Game Day Port v North at Blundstone

Thought some of the things Firrito did playing the man and overall d***headedness...like on Boak when the ump was about to throw it up and the incident where he gave a 50 away was a disgrace. few others too. Lindsay Thomas' playing for free kicks all day should be strung up for another absolute disgrace. was the first north game ive seen all year and think even less of them than i did yesterday. didn't expect a win this morning but now i wholeheartedly believe that we are a better team than that mob. they're the softest team of players in the AFL with some of those today.

Drew Petrie and Michael Firrito are among my most hated players in the competition. Firrito in particular is a complete campaigner and always has been.

Let's not get away from the fact we played poorly for at least eighty minutes of the game.
The midfield was not up to it. Cunnington and Bastinac had it all over Wines and Hartlett and therein lay the difference. And the fact we played Heath as the second KPD.
IMO Wines and Hartlett will be better players in the long term, I know that might seem strange coming from a North supporter after a win, but I really rate those guys.

Norf are nothing special. They are very ordinary. The game was gifted wrapped to them by the maggots and yet could only still win by 10 pts. And to think some of the clowns on their board think they can win the next 12 games in a row.

Some consistency would be nice from the maggots. How was that not holding the ball when Monfries tackled Thompson?
Apart from the umpiring North did blitz us early and we always played catch up.
Sure it has worked all season but you have to play 4 quarters of footy.

Bad luck today girls we were lucky to get away with the pageant crown today, the judges were terrible good luck for the rest of the competition

EFA for the way the umpires want the game played.

I'm pleased that the boys came that close considering they were never going to be allowed to win. A win in my book.

Can't get angry at the NM fans, they are just supporting their team.

I really hope these umps are raked over the coals though. Cos if I buggered up that much at work, I'd be straight in the boss's office

Umps did what they were meant to do, sadly.

Generally, the first fans to post in an opposition forum are the trolls. Then the reasonable supporters come along. I wish nothing but success for North during the season - I sincerely hope we get to meet them again in a final...

I think we've been reasonably respectful, especially given some of the comments about the umpiring have been a bit over the top. We did get the rub of the green but I don't think there were too many free's that weren't there. Having the shits about it and being annoyed at losing doesn't mean they weren't there.

o_O can't wait to get "the rub of the green" like that some day! Yikes. :D

Maybe you need to learn to play that way?

You're right, we do need to start somehow disposing of the ball with a nanosecond of receiving it because apparently prior opportunity isn't a thing anymore, as least when we're on the receiving end of the tackle.

Honestly I'm beyond the point where I'm getting angry about this anymore, but you could only be blind or a Terry Southern level satirist if your assessment amounts to "yeah, we were a tad lucky".

They were there, no doubt about it. Our complaints are for the ones that weren't paid to us. That's where the discrepancy was. The free kick count was so lopsided that it was saying you were at the ball first more than twice as much as we were. The fact that you won by only ten points proves that wasn't the case.

Was it the difference? Probably not. We played horrendous football in the first, and were always coming back from a long way after that. If you guys had actually done the business and not let us back into it twice, it wouldn't have even been mentioned.

Yes they were there, or at least, in the heat of the umpiring moment in real time they were there. That's fine. But in no way in a professional AFL football game are there 23 more "there" frees than there are are for the opposing side, unless they're a group of Div 5 scrubbers looking to break legs.

When and where was Chad reported.

Not nice loosening but good to see the boys fight it out to th very end.got to work on our starts and how to control the tempo when teams start scoring on us.

Clearly should have played a extra tall at the back.

last quarter around 5-10 mins left in the game from memory - north player had his head over the ball near the center of the ground and wingard came rushing in late and may have accidently clipped him, nothing malicious in it as he tried to stop/slow down and then he threw his hands in the air..

Yet the one where Westhoff had his head bumped through his arse....play on....nothing to see here.

Re Moore for Broadbent is the change this week. The Brogdog has been quiet all year and was second to the ball every time today. He and Ebert have been in poor form and its slipped under everyone's radar. Neither has played well for four weeks.

They must get Pittard back in the side too, while Redden for Renouf is a no-brainer.
Time for Butcher to find form too. Schulz did a couple of things today but is not providing a sufficient focal point.

Ebert was great today, the work he does off the ball is unbelievable.
