Selection: Chad's back
Chad Cornes has been named to face the Demons
The Power is likely to make just one change to the team that defeated Brisbane by 48 points last Saturday, with Chad Cornes coming into the 22 in place of the suspended Troy Chaplin.
The Power welcomes back Cornes after five weeks on the sidelines following knee surgery.
Also added to the extended bench in the squad of 25 are Matthew Broadbent, Michael Pettigrew and Matthew Westhoff. Broadbent, 18, would make his AFL debut if selected.
Port Adelaide Football Operations Manager Peter Rohde says regaining Cornes is a timely boost.
“Having Chad back is obviously great for us. He provides flexibility and on-field leadership, and he’ll definitely play if he gets through training tomorrow,” Rohde said.
“We think there are unlikely to be any other changes, though Broadbent, Pettigrew and Matt Westhoff all give us different options to consider.”
The Power will hold their final training session at 11am tomorrow at Alberton, with the final team to take on the Demons named tomorrow afternoon.
The Power squad to face Melbourne, as named at 4.30pm on Thursday, is as follows:
B: Alipate Carlile, Toby Thurstans, Jacob Surjan
HB:Nathan Krakouer, Chad Cornes, Peter Burgoyne
C: Danny Meyer, Dom Cassisi, Tom Logan
HF: Robert Gray, Warren Tredrea, David Rodan
F: Brett Ebert, Brendon Lade, Justin Westhoff
R: Dean Brogan, Kane Cornes, Danyle Pearce
Interchange from: Josh Carr, Jason Davenport, Steven Salopek, Paul Stewart, Michael Pettigrew, Matthew Broadbent, Matthew Westhoff
IN: Broadbent, C. Cornes, Pettigrew, M. Westhoff
OUT: Troy Chaplin (suspended)
