Positives & negatives v swans

-got the rub of the green from the umps for the first time all year

Really? I can remember a few dodgy decisions each way but the ones against us were more damaging. The 50 against Foley, Jake Kings goal that was wrongly called touched for a start. Riewoldt got a free for in the back but missed the shot. Can't think of any goals that we were gifted.

True, but I was more referring to the free kick count, which was very lopsided towards us. Almost as much as last week when it was against us.

Re: Positives & negatives v swannettes

A huge positive for me was Houli - what a great pick up for us.

Cotchin's leadership material, and looked like he enjoyed being our captain

Rance's work on Goodes. A year ago I didn't rate Rance and questioned why we kept him, he has proved me wrong. Great work from Rance.

Re: Positives & negatives v swannettes

Bowden used to be third man up very often

Geez Mumford's a gun
Imagine having him running around for us? It would just about answer most of our prayers.

Re: Positives & negatives v swannettes

:thumbsu:Exactly, Miller is crucial to our team structure and anyone who doesn't acknowledge it knows nothing!

good point Goldy, not many would notice how bloody good a tackler Miller is...He made some great contributions yesterday in the 1%ers:thumbsu:...I can tell why they got him to Punt rd...he seems a popular figure

Negatives: I don't think our players know the word,.. "shepard"

The funniest thing on sunday was when Miller caught that swans player holding the ball.

Re: Positives & negatives v swannettes

i say this because it is so frustrating how in round 21 they decide to suddenly play well all of a sudden, we had the rub of the umpires and we continued to do those handballs to people standing still.

.

It wasnt 'all of a sudden'.... the previsous 2 games we showed signs of comming out of the form slump... particularly last week. Jack in particular seemed to re-build his game quarter by quarter over the past 8 quarters. the same could be said for Martin.

the team had a number of injuries in the backline, a genuine form slump, and who knows, maybe struggling with some new elelment of the game plan that was being introduced... The last two games looked like form, tactics and backline 6 all started to click again. Thats life with a young side, no doubt.

Re: Positives & negatives v swannettes

Positives:
The coaching was excellent tactically : Longmire had no answers.
Seeing jack's form improve quarter by quarter (really changed the way he apparoached the ball and his opponent.. it was like him remembering what to do again finally, (since the concussion?)
Dusty work his way into the game

Negative:
poor ol' Foley had a bit of a shocker.
Slight sense that Swans we're well off their game, given the stakes. Hard to rate the win in context of the season: (but Im much more confident about beating Adelaide now)

Edwards was pretty good. Chases, tackles and harasses. His chase down on Kennelly and his shepard of the ball were the two best 1%'s for the day.

If he was 5kg heavier and was a solid kick he would be a very good footballer.

Re: Positives & negatives v swannettes

how come it was so funny:confused:, he does it a bit, landed some good tackles v WC last week too

I think he means how Mattner just stood there while Miller came at him like a raging bull. Real deer in headlight stuff. :D

Pretty sure it was Grundy (39 not 29).

Speaking of Mattner, he was the one who ran down Foley, coming out of nowhere at a hundred mile an hour. Does he like get paid an extra few large ones for doing that against us or something? Remember Jack at the top of the goal square a couple of yeas ago, strolling in to goal to put us ahead (I think), and whooshka! Mattner comes from nowhere with the tackle of the year, and the Swans get a rebound goal to seal the game. Was Richo's last game I think.

Re: Positives & negatives v swannettes

That was quite interesting. Is there a limit to how many times someone can go 3rd man?

Maybe we should draft a tree trunk to stand at a contests whilst we have someone come from behind and tap as third man? :D

You wanna re draft Richard Lounder ????

I HATED Jack for that. looked like a junior.
I think he got stuck in some kinda vortex, he was moving in slow mo, and thats just compared to the grass. and yep was Richo's last(injured after playing out the game the week before injured and still being a star vs Nth)
out with a whimper, a loss and re-injured. was no reason to risk him after having a twinge the week before, and missed out on an MCG farewell game.
I was FURIOUS also I like to use the CAPSLOCK.

I was about 5 metres from that incident.
He just had no awareness of what was around him.
