Eagles should be getting a priority pick inside the top 10, all the other clubs seem to be getting free hand outs so its time we went to the AFL and said "listen you pack of lying cheating pricks, give us a top 10 priority pick for once". Don't even give a reason they know we deserve it!!!

What are the rules about trading back into the first round using future picks if you have a debt?

scenario:

Freo take young and Stephens at 8 and 9.

carlton bid on Henry at 10.
we use all of our current picks available to meet the debt but come up just shy of 600 points short. We go into debt for next year.

can we still trade our 2020 first to GC for 15 and 20 at full price or is the discount then applied to the value?

So what picks are potentially in play?

GCS don’t need both 15 and 20? So could trade one of these if they can’t combine them for an earlier pick?

fremantle pick 22 - would they take a 2020 2nd rounder plus a couple of later 2019 picks for this to cover Henry?

ditto pick 30 from hawthorn?
Well there you go. only GCS remain. Although surely freo try to trade out a 2020 2nd into 2019 for points instead of eating into their 2020 1st for points.

I’d be targeting GC’s picks honestly. If they can’t move up, reckon 15 or 20 is quite gettable

20 for 37 and the Crows’ 2020 2nd could work, as could 15 for 23 and the 2020 2nd
So why would the suns be wanting 2 picks in the late 30's ?
They dont need the points as they pre list academy kids with no need for points

I'd love if anyone's capable of answering this with some strong backing of reference

Was about to ask the same thing

My answer (without reference)
I'm guessing they're allowed to as long as they have 600 points value if they were to win the premiership. Ie: picks 18(traded),36,54,72

I think you could do the trade with GC in the 2 minutes after the bid, then use 15/20 to match the bid. But if you match the bid first you can't then trade your 2020 first because I believe you technically wouldn't have one anymore as the 600 points are deducted from it.
