ive said it many times; 2nd round pick is really the only option. we dont have a third round and their is no way he is worth a first rounder. or u could have some guy not playing a part in our side atm (which u wont want). have your pick of guys like chambers, green, johnson??.

oh yeh, and adelaide and port for that matter can keep their dirty mits off butler and waters. they will not be traded.

They're safe. You can't touch players the first year after they are drafted.

who would u want?
a defensive midfielder would be quite handy to our team...

Im not too sure about your list, but yes we do need a quality young midfielder.

I think Stenglien and a player would be worth a 1st round draft pick.

It would be worth us looking at offers for our first round pick if they were REALLY GOOD (not necesarily this one) as Morton is that sort of calibre.

The fact we got Morton for a 3rd rounder has nothing to do with trading for Stenglein.

No, but as I said, if the offer for our first rounder was really good we'd have to consider it. It's not like we're going to have a pick in the top 5 or anything.

Yeah well we got Beau Waters with pick 11. I wouldn't so quickly discount our recruiting staff getting another gun at about the same pick, probably earlier.

is Tyson Stenglien (in your eyes) a really good player?

Personally i think he is worth it, Im spewing he is leaving Adelaide.

He is a ready made midfielder for you guys, can do a negating/run with role and he has great leadership skills as he was touted as possibly our next captain.

let me know your thoughts.

To be honest I think that, as a midfielder, he is a bit of a plodder. Certainly when compared to our current midfielders he isn't that quick. I watched him very closely against the Roos and I thought he was very ordinary. Poor finishing. What he has going for him is his height and his ability to negate taller midfielders like Pavlich... is what makes him attractive. He certainly plays an important role but he aint no star. Players like Stenglein can be more easily developed than star players recruited, and Selwood was showing promise in this role until he got injured. Thats why I think he isn't worth a first rounder.

You make good points, but dont let the Roo's game fool you, nobody was able to finish anything in that game.
Stenglien is a very tough player, I watched him during the Showdown and he was awesome, he is very in and under, he is also very handy across the HBF too.
He is not a star but he is highly underrated IMO

I'm not saying he isn't tough or underrated I'm just saying he has his limitations. Still while he would be very handy for us in certain situations I think the crows need him much more than we do. He would leave a gaping hole in the crows midfield.

if adelaide are after quick midfielders how about chambers? i'm not just trying to flog off unwanted cattle. i really think this guy has talent he just can't break into our midfield cause we are chocka with running midfielders.

I think Chambers and our 2nd rounder sounds like a very fair trade to me. Chambers is a fairly solid player when he is given his chance. He is a hell of a kick too. I think the amount Adelaide gets for Stenglein will depend on Josh Carr and if he decides to leave and whether Fremantle want to make a decent crack at Stenglein.

Personally i think Stenglein would want to join Eagles rather then Fremantle and i would expect Adelaide will not get anymore then a 2nd round pick and a okay player for him. If not Chambers maybe a player like Rowan Jones would be better suited or Kasey Green..

I dont disagree with you there, i dont want him to go, he is an outstanding player and will leave a huge hole in our midfield.

Dont really know much about Chambers to make a decent comment on him. We might be better off just going for draft picks so we can hand pick who we want.

The Carr won will be interesting, i wonder if Freo are prepared to play hard ball with Carr after what happened last year at Port!

i agree. it may look like we are flogging off a no-hoper but every chance he has, he proves himself at afl. he's dominating wafl atm. he may not be worth much by himself but i think when packaged with the second round pick is fair.

Its going to be an interesting trade because of highly the Crows rate Tyson. I dont think the Crows will be too keen on getting rid of someone touted as the next captain for a player who cant find a regular spot in the 22 and a second rounder.
Personally I'd rather give you Tyson and Burton/Perrie/biglands for a 1st rounder.

Haven't discounted anything, but we won't get any of this year's guns at 10. I'm talking the possibility of a really good player becoming available - say Daniel Wells, and we had to give player(s) + pick(s) to do it I think the options should be left open.

Having said all of that, in the past we have never really gone after big namer players (the last real big name we went after was probably Glendinning), and that probably won't change in the near future.

All very hypothetical really........

I don't rate him that highly to be honest. I know he's quick and can really jump, but he's very inconsistent.
