He was basically a monty to be a 20 touches and a goal a game footballer in year two, and there are like 7 of those in the country.

Now he doesn't look like anything because we decided we wanted him to put a body on Bontempelli at stoppages.
I don’t think he should be a midfielder. But I also don’t think he was any more effective as a half forward (to that point).

I’ve also never been on the Perkins train anyway. Not through lack of talent. This might be harsh, but my impression of him is that he thinks the effort required to fulfil his talent is beneath him.

Definitely get the vibe he doesn't really care. Probably not super into the "elite AFL lifestyle"

It's not that you can't take anything from practices matches.

Not all bad results carry the same weight.

Pies start pre-season 4 to 5 weeks behind North. They're also hardened pros you can trust to flick the switch. If their players have had strong pre-seasons the result means nothing. If they've limped through preaseaon it's different.

If you're a struggling side that's never actually gotten it together, have the longer run during presason and an equivalent injury list and you're getting belted...that's a pretty reliable indicator. It has been for the last 12 years.

It's not panic stations even if we get belted next week but it's a bad sign. I thought the players have changed standards, become pros, gone to Arizona, etc. And they don't fire a shot against a side we are in direct competition with in the first 3 quarters?

It's not a grand plan. Don't delude yourself.
