Concerns me that a few here are overrating him based on 2024 plugging a hole for us for half a dozen matches.

He has a crack, but we now have better options.
I think you're overrating a few guys we haven't even seen play yet. I definitely see him being in the team the next few seasons, young talls take time.

Guy will be 27 in 2025 and has already had 2 ACL's.

We are just better off getting games into the more highly drafted players in the team. (There is half a dozen).
I don't see the point in playing him at all, we aren't winning with him. He should only play if we have another injury plagued season.

Our better options are 19yo and will not have the strength to replace Lafau for at least a couple of years. If we are lucky they will be good third or maybe second tall forward option in the meantime. We still need Lynch or Lafau in the side.

Seriously?!?
We aren't winning and/or going anywhere with half a dozen new inexperienced draftees making up the team either.
So by your reasoning we load up our side with the new draftees and play them against seasoned hard physical bodies.
Smart coaching move...
Let's bang up our new toys as fast as we can...try and cause some more 'Louie' long term injuries...
The player you denigrate in your post as the 'Guy' has a roll to play and will play in the side until he is forced out...
Despite being near Christmas, there must be no 'gifting' of games...players must earn their ticket to the Firsts!
We need to focus on team development/improvement, and that takes time, not focus immediately on winning some irrelevant games...
Smart development is a 'Winning' strategy...

That makes no sense

You want to play Lynch & Lefau because you don't want the young players banged up, even though we will now have Armstrong, Faull, Fawcett, Gray & Sims?

Would love to see how you think our forward line is going to line up.

Yep, especially important if this turns out to be Lynch's last season

Since when did 27 become too old? Lefau could potentially play another 5-6 years if he stays healthy.

I feel like you are also expecting way too much from 1st year key talls. I'm sure they'll all get some games, but they traditionally take a lot longer to be AFL ready. For example, Sam Darcy played 4 games in year one and 3 games in year two. JUH played 5 games in year one. Cadman played in 12 games, but was subbed off in 4 of them.
Sure Gibcus played a lot, but it was in more of a 3rd tall role and has been injured ever since, did playing him too much in year one make him injury prone? Pure speculation, but I'm just saying, you should expect our new talls to only be getting a taste of AFL level in 2025.

27 isn't old but it is for a mature age player who hasn't done much and is now coming off his 2nd recon. Just my opinion but I'm not sold on Lefau like others here seem to be, reckon he is limited.
He is a solid unit, fair enough but I don't rate him as a senior player on our list. Think we are better off getting games into others.

Can see both sides of this. He was solid last year but 2nd re-co at 27 not great. He's a decent stop gap for the youngsters not to be rushed and for them to work hard and push out of the team.

He was our No.1 KPF when Lynch went down and did an awesome job for 7 games. He's much more suited to a 2nd or 3rd tall option. Was instrumental in the win against the Swans with 2 goals. But of course, just write him off.

Even as stop gaps and relatively short term options as you said it’s going to take a few years for the new key position boys to really come on and wouldn’t be out of the question if they play very little afl level footy for even a season or two

So in the meantime Lynch and Lefau will give us a reason to smile and turn up to games and will be the reason why we will ultimately jag a few wins

Love a good jag...

With everyone fit and healty I think it'll be Lynch and Lefau plus the better perfomer of Faull/Armstrong, if they both come on strong then maybe lefau gets dropped, but I think his versatility, ability to play 2nd ruck and ground level work will keep him in the side

LOL no he wasn't FFS

Talk about trying to re-write history. He might have kicked 2 goals but he touched the ball a total of 3 times. Lynch in the same game he got injured kicked 3 and had 6 marks. You just proved my point that our fans overrate this guy.

That’s dumb. It’s what Carlton do with their high picks and then they end up with back issues when they hit their prime.

Let the talls in particular get afl bodies before we throw them out there.
