Training Pre Season ‘25

Am I hearing things correctly that Gibcus had a set back 2 weeks ago that casts doubt on his season and real concerns about his long term future from the 2024 ACL ?
It was told to me that his knee was a bad ACL and that he might never fulfill his talent due to it ie he will be limited.
Sounded very concerning.

I hope all is well with Gibcus his in good hands now with our new fitness guru specialist in ACL.

Yeah, if he has to sit out another season then so be it, would hate to cut the bloke at just 21 yo. I know Grimes wasn't an ACL but he couldn't get right for years & years and looked like he would have his career cut short. Worked out in the end, i think the position our list is atm we could keep him on for now, its not like we are vying for a flag any time soon.

As long as its not another ACL it would be ok, if its just taking longer to heal then so be it.

Dave Astbury had a "car wreck" of a knee injury, including an ACL and full knee dislocation, that took a very long time to come back from, but he ended up being a key part of our dynasty. I'm sure as long as we don't rush him and be patient that he'll be back just fine.

Nah he had he leg amputated

Jesus you post sh!t

Ceasar reported that Gibcus was on the ground doing some running just a few days ago

Don't think we've seen him at training at all, so not sure about the "another setback" unless he went to the docs and had some more scans done and told him no running still.

It does remind me of something Mick Malthouse said back in the 90's, he said some players have all the tools and talent to be AFL players but sometimes their bodies are just not up to it. Gibcus might be one of those players, would be very frustrating.
It would be a big blow for one of our best picks in ages, and he's clearly a talent, but time on his side. Cotchin and Grimes as two examples took a while to come on due to injuries when young and then became greats of the club. Gibcus is 21, so still lots of time and let's face it we aren't playing finals atm, so it's more about treating 2025 as a get the body right year, and try and build into his career into his peak mid 20s rather than needing him to be a gun right away.

At the moment I feel like it’s George all over again with Nigel. He had a really good year last year. Never takes a backwards step and deserves a bit more respect from the fans.
This dude is getting every ounce of ability out of himself.
I like the example he’s setting for our young forwards. If Campbell, Alger and Hotton play with half of Mansells commitment, they are going to turn out to very well rounded small/ medium forwards.

Heading away on Camp this Sunday. Will write a blog again on the Club website, and no doubt the digital media team present will also continue their hot start to the 2025 season! Should be fun.

It's just great to get away and connect as a group. With 10 new (ish) squad members, when you include the mid season draftees, this camp will be vital in laying the foundations for the season ahead.

Go Tiges.

Well done on the award mate congrats

Let’s not forget Charlie Curnow either … had multiple crippling knee injuries and looked ‘cooked’ and I think certain to never regain the athleticism he had when he returned. Needless to say he’s barely missed a game in years.

Hamstrings are a lot different than acl's mate . Most players if they come back are never the same remember Coghlan for us? Infract a lot do it over and over anyway let's hope he comes through it ok. Don't worry about what your copping here.
