I was at that game as well and seen Bolton run into open goal and miss once and get smothered a second time. Also seen Grimes drop a simple chest mark that lead to the winning goal. But at the time it wasn’t cool to blame Dylan or Shai so everyone teed off at George.
I was at that game too and halfway through the third when we were 40 points up I turned to my mate and said, "We're in trouble here."

It was obvious. We'd subbed on Cumbo for Lynch in the first five minutes, Dion wasn't right, still suffering the effects of Dog Stewart, and we were out of legs. I got on the Sunz at about $5 or $6 in-play.

Yeah I was with my son in a corporate suite and said something similar on the 3rd qtr when Bolton ran in from the pocket and missed from the edge of the square. The rot was starting to set in and we were in trouble but not without chances to ice the game in the last. George took the brunt of the disdain that game but he definitely wasn’t the only one who made horrible mistakes

Heading away on Camp this Sunday. Will write a blog again on the Club website, and no doubt the digital media team present will also continue their hot start to the 2025 season! Should be fun.

It's just great to get away and connect as a group. With 10 new (ish) squad members, when you include the mid season draftees, this camp will be vital in laying the foundations for the season ahead.

Go Tiges.

So Bolton's shocker. 3 goals 3 behinds, 6 clearances. One less pressure act. George takes 6 marks up fwd. zero goals, FFS it was the worse effort I've ever seen. I sat ground level, scoreboard end. 6 OOFs I think

Seen us play crap there a bit, but Castagna was next level crap. Finally dropped. Pulls the pin early 23. ASAP.

Thanks for the update mate,
Looking forward to the blog and getting some insights into the camp and how everything is tracking behind the scenes

Congratulations on the award at the AGM last night as well
Very much well deserved

Am I hearing things correctly that Gibcus had a set back 2 weeks ago that casts doubt on his season and real concerns about his long term future from the 2024 ACL ?
It was told to me that his knee was a bad ACL and that he might never fulfill his talent due to it ie he will be limited.
Sounded very concerning.
who are you hearing this from?

Dimma was Georges worst enemy. I called constantly for him to be dropped for his own good over the stretch, each week he got more and more mentally shot and by the end of it had so little confidence in his abilities he was kicking with his back to the goals. All that needed to happen was for Dimma to recognise the form slump and build his confidence back up at the lower level. But it was almost spiteful the way he just kept playing him regardless of his form. Was like killing him with kindness.

Don't think we've seen him at training at all, so not sure about the "another setback" unless he went to the docs and had some more scans done and told him no running still.

It does remind me of something Mick Malthouse said back in the 90's, he said some players have all the tools and talent to be AFL players but sometimes their bodies are just not up to it. Gibcus might be one of those players, would be very frustrating.

Late 22 Castagana was f***g shocking. I had a front row seat to the nightmare on Nerang St. Set shot routine was lining up for goal with his back to the goal. Point, OOF, didn't make the distance. RFC fans just groaned. Lost a close game partially cos of him. Dropped eventually, too late. Injured preseason 2023, retires.
RFC won't select flag winners in the VFL.
George needed half a year in the VFL like D Rioli.... but Dimma would've selected him every game.

now happily retired it seems.
That lining for goal facing in the opposite direction wasn’t that game only, the coaches starting from the sleazy campaigner Hardwick should have pulled him up on it, that’s how he trained so that’s how he played majority on of the blame rests on Dimma , go look at the game day thread with my comments in it

Dimma ruined george in the end by refusing the drop him early. The problem became too big and his refusal to admit something was wrong did nothing to help george fix his game.

At the moment I feel like its George all over again with Nigel. He had a really good year last year. Never takes a backwards step and deserves a bit more respect from the fans.
lost our entire group of small fwds, Baker, Graham, Bolton, Dusty. Mansell will be a walk up start again. And Greene. MRJ. Campbell's runs heaps. Clarke ~ when fit and the new boys, when fit. I've seen MRJ in the middle in the VFL. Step into Bolton's shoes.

I hope all is well with Gibcus his in good hands now with our new fitness guru specialist in ACL.

Yeah, if he has to sit out another season then so be it, would hate to cut the bloke at just 21 yo. I know Grimes wasn't an ACL but he couldn't get right for years & years and looked like he would have his career cut short. Worked out in the end, i think the position our list is atm we could keep him on for now, its not like we are vying for a flag any time soon.

As long as its not another ACL it would be ok, if its just taking longer to heal then so be it.

Kicks the one from the square we win. Acted like a 2 bob lair shanked the easiest of goals and we lose after the siren. Never said George didn’t make mistakes. But there were other contributing factors to that loss other then George who got the finger by the knuckle draggers pointed straight at him.

Looked happy enough in the vid on Monday but noticed his keen was in a slip on brace

Yeah he copped a lot of flack, lost his confidence. I think Dimmas obsession with him aa a defensive forward didn't help
Early in his career he found space in the F50 was a good overhead mark, had pace and was a handy forward.
