For the record, I don't think we can use 2022 to predict 2023, nothing went right in a way never seen before.

But we can use 2021 to predict next year. Our list is not stronger than it was then, and it was clear we were going downhill then.

We'll see where our list actually is next year. If it's as bad as the second half of 2021 and all of 2022 then we have a real shot at Harley Reid.

If we keep defaulting to chipping sideways and backwards when things aren't going well we'll continue to get murdered regularly. Opposition teams all push really hard as soon as we go backwards and instead of relieving pressure it puts more on.

Our list was good and it’s underperformed for years. Therefore “on paper” how are we good? Our players are older, underperformed, been injured and don’t have JK to bail them out.

If we continue to play seasoned vets in their preferred positions from years ago, I don’t see how we improve. They are the ones that now need to adjust their game around the youth.

Yeo to HBF
Shuey to HFF
Start Gaff/Sheed/Cripps in the WAFL and make them show why they deserve their spot.

Keep doing the same thing over and over again, to get the same result is the definition of insanity. We have about 3 years of pea hearted efforts from the senior players so they should be made to prove their worth.

The downside is that the alternative to playing "seasoned vets in their favoured positions" is playing absolute crabs who are barely WAFL quality instead.

List is cooked.

Midfield regeneration is Chesser last year and will laugh if The Bus this year.

Dis you forget Culley & Edwards already?

I’m not suggesting play the yoof but seriously we can’t just roll out the same seasoned players that have let us down for 3 years. Send them to the OWLS

Culley and O’Neil can hold their own, another preseason and I don’t see why both can’t be those B grade defensive mids every team needs.

All we need is one a grade mid to free up Kelly whether that can come from Chesser/Hough (obviously not this season), a fit Yeo, or one of our 2 picks remains to be the question.

Naitanui is clearly the most impactful clearance player in the game when fit, if he gets back to that standard and Yeo can get back to his - I think it’s actually a pretty decent midfield.

I mostly agree but there is promising youth that can be brought in.

Hough, Culley, Bazzo and L. Edwards are all ready to make an impact at AFL level. If senior players are underperforming in the backline or midfield, they should be brought in.

I would also argue that Hough and Culley are b22 already.

*SHOULD

Don't bet on anything with Sheed also back to replace Redden.

Shuey has blown out a calf.

Colour me unsurprised

A smart club would have told Shuey it was over and retained reddog. The campaigner even told us he was happy to play ressies if that was best for the side.

Shuey wants to play when he is injured.

Say the line Dark Sharks

Even more emphasis to recruit midfield only at the draft. Won't be taking the Busslinger now.

Is Shuey our worst captain ever?
At the beginning of 2020 his first test was rallying the troops post Rioli drug ban. Not a great response.

Then came the hub during COVID. Results speak for themselves.

As for leading by example on the field I don't think it's an exaggeration to say he's now had double figure soft tissues injuries since the infamous "double hamstring" against Essendon in late 2020.

In the last 3 years the only time I can remember him putting together more than a month of consecutive football was the back end of 2022 and let's be honest he was going at half rat power just to preserve his body.

If he's not the worst Eagles captain I'd like to know who is.
