Is Shuey our worst captain ever?

Yes. I've said this multiple times before.

His reign has been the worst in club history. He's spent so much time injured on the sidelines, and in the games he DOES play, his performances have been sub par.

This is why immediate change is needed.

Yeo goes down back.
Kelly sheed Culley start in the middle.
Hough on one wing. Chesser on the other.

Gaff, clark on the bench.

Who in that midfield can win contested ball? A lot of pressure for Culley to tackle 5 others!

I don't doubt his passion for the club but it'd probably be best for everyone if the captaincy went elsewhere and he could focus 100% on getting his body right.
Regardless of injury this year the captaincy needs to change hands.

The last thing we want is our captain retiring without a handover year (well maybe we do want that this year now he is injured..... again.... but we should be planning succession a fair way out).

The problem is I can see Gov getting it. Another 30+yo who gets a lot of injuries (impact usually, but still injured a lot).

The only other contenders would seem to be Barass, Duggan and Allen. I think we can forget the last 2 at this stage.

Hopefully Barass gets it.

Hurting your troublesome calves in the OFFSEASON mind you.. not even regular season, not even in match sim, let alone an actual game, surely rings alarm bells.

He's well and truly into Tom Joyce/Harley Bennell levels of injury prone now.

Pass the captaincy onto Barrass or someone else already FFS.

If he steps down as expected, its a bit strange having 2 ex captains on the list still.

Turning into the Pakistani Test team of the 90s…

Shuey is cooked and has been for 2 years. He needed a nudge this year and they backed him in instead. Noble but a mistake.

If he doesn’t hand over the captaincy at the very least…then I’d be quite surprised.

He’s lucky it was the offseason. If it was a proper match the medicos would have sent back out there to ****up the other calf as well.

"Eagles chief executive and Supreme Leader Trevor Nisbett said that the club wanted Shuey at the helm of its best 22 for this year’s season, but Nisbett admitted that he was not a believer in contracts, and considered Shuey's work and captaincy at the club to be a permanent, Xi Jinping like role...much like his own tenure at the club."

Really sucks for Shuey.

You can imagine he’d be just as frustrated. He’s come back earlier than he is contractually obligated to - no doubt to try and have a clean run at it. Say what you want about the last couple of years- all of us know the damaging player he is when fit.

I do hope he can get back quickly, even if it means training for a HFF role.

It does really suck for Shuey, but it's been happening on and off for the last 3 years. At some point he's probably got to realise that maybe his body isn't up to it anymore. There's plenty of stuff I used to be able to do in my 20s that I can't anymore.

Jesus. Settle down.

At least he has stuck fat and run home like the rest of the babies. Loyalty is a measure of leadership.
