Yeah I don't like Balta forward, it's been tried before. I would much rather Balta in defence. A defence consisting Vlausuin, Young, Balta, Gibcus, Broad, Rioli, Short would be pretty strong.

Gibcus to me will takes Gimes' role. I can't see Grimes playing the whole season unless he drastically improves on last year's form.

Balta learning the forward trade in pre season doesn't mean he is going to play there, people need to stop thinking just because a player is practicing a new position that that's what is going to happen. Amazing how this board hasn't had breakdowns due to the over thinking of everything.

Astbury - Young
Grimes - Gibcus
Broad - Broad
Vlas - Vlas
Houli - Riloi

To be honest, it's not far away (from a size and role point of view, not neccesarily ability) from what our core back 6 used to be. Thrown in a seventh defender (small/medium type) and we are set. Could be Brown/Trez possibly. I would like to see Short up the field. And by training reports, Baker is training as a mid.

What do you mean he doesn't need to? What would you have him do all preseason? Running laps and kicking drills? He's part of the playing group. I would've thought only players who are injured wouldn't be taking part.

Yeah they've probably accepted that Lynch isn't going to play every week so need a bit more depth there.

Ryan is probably the one that misses out with Balta playing a forward/ruck role. Competition for spots is healthy though, and isn't something we've had with our key forwards in recent times.

I agree, Dusty doesnt need to train, we should send him home until RD 0, its not like eh will improve or need the touch or hardening for match fitness.

Its all too risky.
