Will is more flexible, big season for Emac.. looking forward to the competition for places
Will may be more flexible but emac was/is twice the player, that and we've just drafted a few hbfers. I think schoey will be traded out at years end.Geelong may be interested as he's a few years younger than taylor

Schofield plays as our FB though. We dont use him as a 3rd tall anymore so his run is pointless. Swapping him for MacKenzie isn't going to change much.

I'd take Schoeys distribution and foot skills out of the backline over Emacs everyday of the week and if 2016 is anything to go by Emacs foot skills post knee are worse than ever.

Just look at who we've recruited recently, rotham, goiter and watson.all of them are that mid sized defender type.

I fail to see what that has to do with the Emac v Schofield debate. Both are likely to be retired before any of those players are regulars in the side.

Id take mackenzie i still think theres a place for a close checking 1 v 1 defender within games. Even though schoey played as the fb he hung off too far and any decent kick to his opponent he was found out big time. While it can be said that our defense relies upon pressure upfield to make sure the ball comes in messy that isnt going to happen all the time and i prefer emacs defensive qualities a mile of schofield.

Merry Xmas all. Im going to down some rum.

No reason Barrass can't do the close checking. It's not as though he's little. Mackenzie looked like a prepubescent boy out there last year. Not only was his skills and decision making terrible he lost his strength and his turning circle got even bigger.

I'd like to think a fb still needs to offer run and add value with ball in hand. From what I saw last year Mackenzie has a shit tone of work to do.

Yes he does and yes he is

I didn't see it last year. It will be a good conundrum to have if he does re-find his form.

I also think we need to look at this with a business mind at the end of season. We can't play Schoey, BArrass, Mackenzie and McGovern in the backline. Barrass and McGovern are locks. Schoey is contracted IIRC. That leaves Mackenzie who we better not give a bad contract to like we have with other players post injury. He's surely on a heft contract at the moment. So in my eyes, it would mean a significant pay cut if he stays of which either we need to trade out Schoey or play McGovern forward. Going on our history we don't trade out contracted players and I don't think we're going to be moving the 2016 AA CHB forward. So I guess we'll overpay and sign Mackenzie to 4 years going by our past, he'll sit in the WAFL, play a few games, win best clubman, be demoted to the rookie list and finally "retire".

Apparently he is on about 600k a year.

There is absolutely no chance we would give a 4 year deal to a 29 year old with a Dodgey knee who at best is now depth (as of today).

Good news for those that are interested

I got a voucher for Christmas today that will enable the purchase of a new polo

Bad news is that my family are requesting I either find a job or take up the offers of a gofundme page
