Windy and Owens both starting their 4th season and both have around 50 games under their belts. Year 4 is commonly when good players have their breakout season. Both have shown what they are capable of in patches . Hopefully this is the year they put it all together consistently and the competition stands up and takes notice.

For the same reason above its why I expect we will still see up and downs with Pou and Wilson. They aren't far away from dominating games , and it's not uncommon for players to announce themselves in year 3 or earlier (hello Nas!) but I'm still keeping my expectations in check on those 2 for at least another year. Do I think they are both going to be stars of the comp - absolutely!

The kids are going to be exciting to watch.

Year 3 is very common for breakouts too so Pou is right in the sweet spot given role change and finish to 2024

Often in AFL fantasy and supercoach there is a watch specifically on players in their third years for a spike in output. Last year, from the 2021 draft, we saw guys like JHF, Darcy, Andrew, Nas, Lohmann, Hough, Roberts, Soligo & more all establish themselves as consistent AFL performers

Please don’t go full Gringo yet. I prefer summer pre-season Gringo, where everything is smiles and rainbows and lolly pops.
Nah, Gringo warms up after about 5 to 6 rounds in...after 10 rounds and we're in yet another middling rut, he's hitting home runs with analogies and quips that are surgically incisive. Sure, the season loses it's lustre, and we wonder what could of been, but some of the best posters come to life. This time of year is very twee and great for the track watchers and a few others whom are informative and in good form. It's almost too feckin' nice 😆

I don't have any real inside info so take this with a grain of salt but the word is there is and has been a little player unrest simmering just below the surface. I won't name names, but it seems pretty obvious who this is tied too, and it doesn't seem to be going away.

Anyone else heard anything about this? Pretty sad, and a bit of a shame if true I must say.

I'd be pretty pissed off if there were no biscuits too.

I was simply amplifying my friend Phantom's post, go after him. He's a vortex of negativity and drew me back in. ;)

I'm actually feeling pretty generally positive these days. Form and fortune will fluctuate but at least we have a properly structured football department and a focus on the footy side of the business. Never asked for much. Just that we act like a professional sporting club. Think we have most of it right this time.

At least this train has tracks and an engine. The last decade was a bunch of mimes in full costume and make-up, lined up rolling their arms in unison and shuffling on the spot with a forum full of fans telling me how powerful that engine looks.

I think this year the competition is going to see how much of an absolute weapon, Wilson is.

I think if

3 of Pou Wilson nas Owens windy and King can elevate then we are a serious chance imo

That's like giving a tip that Black Caviar is a decent chance. Wilson is the best first year kid we've had in ages.

There is definitely some scope for massive internal improvement. Lots of kids are right at that point.

The boys look very fit, and the younger players are more prominent. Guys like Pou, Arie, Hugo an NAS have really stood out. The other noticeable thing for me is how young our group is. Even the new recruits are really shining. Guys like Dodson, Travaglia, Boxshall have been really impressive. Our recruiting over the last few years has been excellent. I also think bringing Brendan Bolton into the club was a master stroke. He has been very prominent and vocal during the pre season and his eye for detail is unbelievable. He picks up on so many little things and he’s got such a positive energy about him.
Bolton pretty much runs a lot of drills & the thing that has continued is the intensity in which the drills are performed.
Touch wood we’re light on in the rehab group & May that continue!
The draftees are coming on nicely, with none looking out of place at this point!
Hall, Keeler, McLennan, Arie, Hastie, Garcia have all shown something at different times…McCrae’s professionalism obvious, with Mattaes looking more like himself with his energy and enthusiasm evident.
On the not so positive side, I still have concerns about our footskills, as missed targets even under zero pressure still happening.

How about if Taura manages to win the Rising Star award this year? Especially after his delayed start to the season...
I'd like to see that!
All us track watchers are eagerly waiting for the blond poster boy to join in full training…very exciting prospect young Viking!!

Tbh I’m really concerned with his injury. Stress fractures in the back are severely debilitating. look at Hotton. The concern is how it will impact his athleticism which is a major weapon of his.

Depends, I've had one and actually still have it and this hasn't been the case for me.

You do need to rest from high intensity exercise in order to recover (And do much more targeted strengthening of stabilizer muscles etc) but for me building back up there has been no loss of inherent athleticism other than a loss of fitness and strength which comes with rest. On the plus side you gain something from really focusing on your core.
