So no Pou, Marshall, Henry, Howard, Dow or Tauru available for round one, and Clark might be under done.

B: Webster, Cordy, Schoenmaker
HB: Nas, Wilkie, Sinclair
C: Hill, Steele, Wood
HF: Wilson, Sharman, Owens
F: Butler, King, Caminiti

Foll: Boyd, Mcriye, Windhager
Int: Clark, Jones, Garcia, Travaglia
Sub: Byrnes

Could see opposition tall forwards kicking a few against that backline but I'd rather go in like that rather than displacing Sharman again. The other option would be to put Caminiti in there with Keeler or Heath playing forward/support ruck, but I don't think he'd defend much better than Schoenmaker at this stage and his kicking would be a liability.

I mean it’s not the worst outcome, Round 1 is 6 weeks away, Pou’s injury is stated to be 10-14 weeks. So best case scenario he’s back by Round 4-5 and worst case is he’s back after the bye.

Howard will probably be back sooner as I doubt he’ll want a full shoulder reconstruction done with his contract status.

It's pretty bad.

The blame RTB narrative is bullshit truthfully

Firstly, the exercise sports scientists develop the training programs in the modern era.

Secondly, two players out of our entire list have developed a stress related injury this offseason.

That leaves another 35+ who have benefited significantly from the program developed.

Reality is everyone responds differently to load and there are numerous physiological factors that cause these injuries.

Alix Tauru has been on our list for over 9 weeks, now we are stating he is at least 4-8 weeks away and stress fractures are tricky with no guarantee to hit any of these deadlines.

Surely we did a proper medical on him before drafting.... surely
All clubs were aware of the stress fractures, probably why he slid to us....

The hard one with Pou is that the recovery period is likely to be around 10-14 weeks. However, he might end up needing a month to complete a fitness block to get back to some form of match fitness.

Not to mention that all Clubs have injured players at present.

He's running and progressing well.

We drafted him for a decade, not to be tearing it up in January of his first preseason.

And other clubs passed and we did not.

Taura was not ranked to go earlier than our Pick. Some Drafts had him later. So I do not really believe that you can say that they "passed" on him as he was not ranked to go earlier than our pick.

There was a lot of speculation that as North needed a key defender that they should trade down by splitting their earlier pick to get him, which they did not.

The Saints have stated from the outset that they would go slow with him. Our drafting is now all about building a better team for the longterm, with minimal addressing of short-term needs.

There was definitely strong interest in him as high as pick 5 with Melbourne, and Richmond also came in late

TBH, I can't see him having a big impact this year.

I don't get the fascination with drafting already injured players, just a complete gamble that their injury will come good. It's already hard enough to be an A-grade AFL player without adding pre-existing injuries to the mix.

Tauru was never a ready-made prospect even if he was 100% fit. Has a lot to develop in his game. He was drafted on his raw athletic attributes and his football IQ, and hope that we can turn him into a unicorn of the competition

When we initially drafted him, my hope was that we wouldn't see him at AFL level in 2025 in favour of letting him spend as much time in the 2s to develop his craft as possible - similar to Garcia last year when he seemingly deserved an opportunity at AFL level

Again big "IFs" .... Reminds me of the "calculated" risks we took on players like Freeman or Bytel.

Pick 10 is not worth a risk, the fact that's it's the compensation for Battle makes it even harder to stomach.

I mean you can think this way, but it won’t change anything. Whatever we do, Tauru is now a St Kilda player. I’m choosing to back him and the club

Not adequately replacing Josh battle in free agency is going to burn us dramatically… reality is we really shouldn’t be in the position of worrying about the loss of dougal Howard of all players.
You're right of course.

After all, competent 6'6" key position defenders grow on trees......

I dunno man, I feel like the "We're not winning the flag this year" attitude, before a ball is bounced, is the mentality which has killed this club for so long. Wonder how that attitude flies at Geelong.
thinking this myself, essendon werent winning it in 93,either were the crows in 97 after we slaughtered them in the playoff for 10th spot in 1996 in the last round, where did the termites finish in 2016?

never know, gotta buy a ticket to be in the right place at the right time

He's a St Kilda player when he gets out on the park and plays his first game for the RWB... before that he's just a person contracted by St Kilda FC.

INJURY LIST:

Hunter Clark | Groin | 2-3 weeks

Liam Henry | Knee | 4-6 weeks

Alix Tauru | Back | 4-8 weeks

Rowan Marshall | Pelvis | 5-8 weeks

Mattaes Phillipou | Leg | 10-14 weeks

Dougal Howard | Shoulder | TBC

Paddy Dow | Knee | TBC
The truth of the matter is ....... you can add at least 4 weeks to the above timeframes given the cotton wool aspects of modern day AFL football

Time to see what we have lurking in the remote shady depths of RSEA Park
