Though Hall can play either as a forward or as a mid. But yes seems to be mainly a forward at present.

If selected in the firsts even if he mainly pals forward, it is likely hat he would get some midfield time.

At the BH Hawks he seemed to play as a mobile high half forward. Often was the last kick inside 50.

Would be huge if Stocker can consistently show why SOS went early on him in his draft and do well in the midfield, seems like a heart and soul type player, and a bit different to others we have in there.

From all accounts he's a ripper bloke with a terrific attitude.
Add to that , they thought he was one of the best mids in the draft.

I don't think he's ever going to be the midfield bull they thought he could be.
You can compare stats with another hbf player in Sinclair , and Sinclair is just miles ahead for clearances and contested possessions. ( And still isn't an obvious mid ).
His stats for those things are more like Wanganeen-Milera's. ( He doesn't get the uncontested possessions though ).

Doesn't mean he won't remain a valuable player.

good to see Collard training in that video, appears to be not so weedy as he was also,i havent read page 159 or this 160 yet,so havent seen if anyone else has commented

im getting excited about Dodson already, can see him demanding games very quickly, none of this bs like at geelong where conway hasnt even got by stanley yet,#50 or 60 odd at the draft might be looked back on as a truly great pick, glad roh has another string to his bow(forward)if necessary

the irish fella looks to be fitting in like a glove

boxshall a great size

Just a friendly reminder on Marshall. He didn’t fully cement himself as our number one ruckman until our two other ruckman at the time (Longer and Pierce) were injured with concussions and Richo was forced to play him.

We could see a similar situation unfold for one of Boyd, Heath, Dodson or even Keeler.

On Sincs, when he's been playing half back all game and is thrown in the middle to a game in balance in the 4th Qtr, it does 2 things:

1, it changes the dynamic of the game so far. Do teams go defensive on him, do they let him go? It can shake things up enough to turn a game in our favour.
2, he's fresher than the others, becomes a mini-sub.
I agree with this. It's also the maximum amount I want to see him in mid. I don't think he'll ever be an AA mid, but he's an AA half back.

Nas and 2025 FRDP for Butters, Callaghan, Aleer
Transactional terms that might work, but gee I absolutely love watching NAS play.

If we made that move both St Kilda and Sandy would be stacked to the brim it'd be embarrassing if both didn't win a premiership:

ST KILDA:
Webster* - Aleer - Wilkie
Arie - Caminiti - Sinclair
Callaghan - Steele - Wilson
Hill - Sharman - Henry
Owens - King - Higgins

Row - Pou - Butters

Macrae - Windy - Garcia - Collard/Butler
SUB: Travaglia

SANDRINGHAM:
McLennan - Doug - Cordy
Hastie - Barrat - Stocker
Wood - Clark - Byrnes
Hall - Keeler - Said
Collard/Butler - Heath - Tauru

Dodson - Dow - Jones

Carroll - O'Connell - Boxshall - Armstrong

We can always dream I guess:tearsofjoy:

This reminds me

Wasn't Ross Lyon boasting about how little hours the boys trained in preseason of 2024 (and/or 2023)? 2 sessions per week instead of 3?

So how is he being blamed for the amount of 'overload' injuries there were over that period?
16 hours a week if I recall correctly.

Well not quite correct as Marshall was picked up by St Kilda with the intent more him to be a key forward, or perhaps ruck forward. But as you say when the other rucks all went down Marshall was given the opportunity to ruck in the firsts and

At 201cm, the versatile key position player won the Roosters best first-year player award in his first season in the VFL in 2015, but was starved of opportunity in the final year of North Ballarat’s alignment with North Melbourne.

We could see a similar situation unfold for one of Boyd, Heath, Dodson or even Keeler.

Or Caminiti in defence.

I have my doubts still on Heath, and Dodson is still a bit light but looks every 2.54cm to be a future ruck for us.

Thanks for posting LC.

I just listened to both interviews and I was amazed at what I heard. Given the spate of injuries around the competition since the clubs returned I have been barking up the wrong tree (Lyon). Russell and co made it clear that clubs have so little time to work with the players they have to ramp things up increasingly over January/February in an attempt to get the training/learning into them. Plus given that the clubs have no control over the players over that period its a recipe for serious injuries and thats what they are getting.

Not many would know the clubs are not even allowed to monitor the players whilst they away from the club. That is utter madness as you will have kids like Phillipou who has obviously done too much running/loading and others who do bugger all. So much is reliant on the players following their own programs while they are away from the club, and to not be able to monitor them in this day and age of sport science advancements its utter madness.

Surely the AFPA have a duty of care to these kids to give them the best possible chance of having a career mostly injury free and with as little as possible flow on effects from their time in the game. How much leave and time away from the club do these prima donnas need? Its the old antic 'the devil makes use of idle hands' and there is nothing more concerning than kids getting paid 200-400k and having 20 weeks leave a year.

Russell said it takes 8 days for a player to lose their elite conditioning in the wrong environments. What the AFPA are doing with the restricted hours access to players is the exact opposite, its setting up the under prepared players for disasters.

Im all for employees rights but this needs to be addressed by the clubs/AFL and AFPA as a matter of urgency.

Lewis played one game in 2016.

Marshall got his first game in 2017 , when we still had Hickey( injured ) and Longer, and Pierce.
Longer rucked 17 games that year. Longer was actually looking pretty OK at that time. (Pierce no games ).

The following year Hickey played 13 games, Marshall 12 , Pierce 3, Longer 5. Marshall already considered better than Pierce.
I think that at the time Hickey and Marshall were both considered better fwd/rucks than Longer or Pierce.

Having too many spud rucks , we traded Hickey. Oops.
Then in 2019, after 1 game, Longer had concussion issues. Pierce also had concussion issues. ( also 1 game ).
At that point Marshall had played 13 games.
We were nervous about him playing the whole season with no other rucks on the list, but we already knew he was better than Pierce in every way, and better than Longer around the ground.

End of 2019 we picked up Abbott and Alabakis, but Marshall went into 2020 as our clear number one ruck.

Hickey's pick went trough the wringer and along with our other picks we ended up with Hannerbury, Bytel, Parker and Hind.
If our drafting department hadn't been deranged lunatics we could have got Hannerbury and Bailey Wlliams or James Jordan, or Tom Berry.
