Butter's 3rd season was bog average and likely marred by injury. He didnt get going again properly until 2023.

Im not sure why we're all comparing two very different players but at that age NAS has him covered comfortably.

Because he wants to swap Nas for him.

The fact that people think Butters has hit his peak at age 24 proves how good he is now, and how good he could get when he’s truly at peak age of ~26+. For reference, same age as Izak Rankine

The kid could win a Brownlow

I love Nas but he’s not at the level Butters was when he was 21. Could still catch up though

He probably will win a Brownlow. The best and most impactful players often don't though. Consistent midfielders who rack up huge numbers do.

Comparing because people keep freaking out about the possibility of losing Nas. Conversely, there is a way we come out as winners if we get fair return

Well not quite correct as Marshall was picked up by St Kilda with the intent more him to be a key forward, or perhaps ruck forward. But as you say when the other rucks all went down Marshall was given the opportunity to ruck in the firsts and

At 201cm, the versatile key position player won the Roosters best first-year player award in his first season in the VFL in 2015, but was starved of opportunity in the final year of North Ballarat’s alignment with North Melbourne.

Or Caminiti in defence.

I have my doubts still on Heath, and Dodson is still a bit light but looks every 2.54cm to be a future ruck for us.
Dodson light…obviously you haven’t seen him 🥴

I don’t want to, I’m saying we can afford to if he wants to leave and we can get something good in return

Too late my inflexible friend. You will forever be the guy who wants to trade Nas. We don't do nuanced conversations on here.

Add to that what looks like a moon boot, and that his right foot is clearly off the ground…

Why would you wear a moon boot for a femur?
It stops you flexing your foot and ankle.

I'm in one at the moment.
Doesn't do shit to my femur.

Peak Dermie, when lance kicked 113 he said he could only get better, how’d that work out.

I rate Butters but I’d be willing to bet we have seen the best of him. Naz on the other hand is silk department and looks to have some improvement in him. Would I love to have Butters hell yes, am I trading naz for him hell no.

I love the look of our list as we move forward. We need to keep adding but we’re building a list that will contend, exciting times imo.

I’ll weigh in on the Naz debate.

It’s easier to find a butters type, than it is to find a nas type (if both reach their potential)

I’d argue it’s probably time we start getting a look at what Nas can do for us through the middle third of the ground (not full time, but certainly for periods of influence).
I believe he’s Shaun Burgoyne with a higher ceiling and would be gutted to see him go.

He is being offered a mill I heard. I reckon we will have to come close to that to keep him

We'd offer him a mill a year to get him if he played for someone else, so I've got no issue with us paying him dr evil wages.

Dodson could play this year and not be totally out of his depth. Genuinely looks the best ruck prospect we’ve had for as long as I can remember.

How ordinary is your memory?
It was only a handful of years ago rowan 'the prospect' marshall got a shot in pre-season... only after tom hickey and lewis pierce went down injured.

Buggered if I know, but it looks like he’s in one to me.

If I’m wrong, absolutely **** all turns on it, so… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Really, more details please

Dodson light
I said a bit light ("and Dodson is still a bit light but looks every 2.54cm to be a future ruck for us") and not a bit skinny, and as yet he lacks the muscle strength he will need at AFL Level in the ruck. Not surprising though as he is young.

Muscle is denser than fat, so it takes up less volume. So Dodson will weigh more when he muscles up, even if his volume stays the same, or even if it reduces. Marshall is superfit and well muscled, but looks lean, but is a good weight still due to his strength.

Increased weight, and strength, will both help him to be a better ruckman, as will training, coaching and experience.

Afraid you are wrong there.

Even us mere mortals are allowed in to RSEA Park to watch training. Something I have done for over forty years now. It used to be better when I could play a game of Squash at the club while I was there, then have a meal and a beer while they announced the team before they released it to the media.
