Agree with this. Considering it's a do or die prelim it's actually not the worst game for him to come back into. Lining up on an injured Pods, out of form Mooney, or dud in Hawkins shouldn't trouble him. It's not ideal coming in to a prelim after weeks out but it's not as bad as it could have been.

In addition, Pods missed round 22 & the QF due to suspension, so he has missed a bit of footy of late also. Also, Pods has never played in a pressure packed game like a PF before either. Presti will eat him.

Because football clubs lie about injuries, especially around finals time.
I don't think there has been anything to suggest there has been a lie regarding the extent of Wellingham's injury though, and sports injury experts get their info from a number of different sources. Not just the club.

presti will play but not because of the job he can do on mooney. Mooney is an average footballer and I have no doubt brown could easily do the job on him. Pies will be playing presti because if we do get through the need him for reiwoldt the week after and they will not be wanting to give him that job without playing for a month. Presti will more or less do the same job as brown will on mooney so they dont really lose anything but brown would not be able to go with roo if we get through.

I feel sorry for brown because I think he has played 1 bad game against the hawks and has done everything else right but presti is the right man. In an ideall world we win the flag, presti retires and brown holds down FB for the next 10 years and wins a few flags of his own along the way,

Press conference today the boys mentioned Wellers trained, should be good to go on along with Presti on Friday night :)

Presti and Wellers both trained today, although Wellingham in all reports still seems to be struggling a little bit.

INJURED Collingwood duo Sharrod Wellingham and Simon Prestigiacomo have trained on Tuesday morning as they race against time to prove their fitness for this weekend's preliminary final clash with Geelong.

Wellingham injured his ankle in week one of the finals against St Kilda and looked slightly proppy as he moved through the drills, while Prestigiacomo has been in and out of the side all year.

Collingwood assistant coach Scott Watters expected both to be available for selection.

wellingham.. it doesn't sound good. last time we played the cats we went in without blair maybe he could play the role he did in that game.
And just play the extra tall in goldsack.

Blair doesn't quite have the build, pace, strength, height. Or skill for that matter... To perform wellinghams roll, wellingham is critical his run and ability to really penetrate when kicking inside 50 on the run will be sorely sorely missed, in saying that I think he'll play :p

He should play... A few jabs before the game if necessary! Mmmm I think if worst came to worst and sharrod didn't pull up! Then Goldsack would come in for mine

Sharrod's right ankle appeared heavily strapped. That said, I also thought he moved well. At one stage, turned and collected a ball only a few metres in front of me. Put weight on right foot as he turned on a hard part of the ground and seemed quite comfortable.

He also appeared very relaxed and happy. Possibly a good sign as I assume he would have known this morning if he was playing or not.

Great news. What sort of mood was the team in?
Most of the boys were very jovial and joking around when they turned up, but they were pretty serious during training.

Didak was mimicking the crowd, with several "Go Sharrods", and a few "Go Harrys", typical Didak stuff.

Even Mick and Bucks were laughing together when they walked through the "roped race".

As I said in the training thread, it was great that Jolly and Maxwell called the team together just before they left the field, it was one of those "all in" moments.:)
