Gee I wish we could have won a McClelland instead of making four Grand Finals in a row. Oh well.
I have since been informed it was actually five because I forgot 2022 S7!

Pressure is what can beat the Roos. They like to play in clear air but if we make it a scrap I think we begin to tire their bigger players out. If it was bucketing down I wouldn’t be too disappointed. I think we play the messy ground ball game better than they do.

Everyone play with the intensity of Dawes and we win.

Crows have a 3-6 record in womens finals the last 4 years or so, and 0-0 in the mens over the same period, so you can understand their frustration

I think that there is something not right with their game plan forward of centre. They have a lot of talent (equal or better than NM and the Lions) but it's rare that they pass to an uncontested forward and seem to reply rely upon the big mark. Also, they rarely switch and don't seek to control the game tempo when needed.

The women never slow play down. Get ball, play on.

There are 4 grand finals across 24 and 25. And we have been in in all 4 games. That's insanely good.

Well, I mean, not as good as hawks obviously, but good enough..

No one is a good as the Hawks. They have a wizard playing for them.

Well on the "having a hard prelim" stat we are well ahead. Also we won our 3rd quarter tonight by more than the Roos did, and we won our 4th while they lost theirs.

So on a (very) short term form timeline things look promising for us.

Don't get me wrong I fully realise I'm clutching at any straw I can here 😂
Do you think in the gf we should start Hodder in the middle n Cathy forward? We seem to function better with that configuration.

Yes I was a bit surprised by that. It might depend partly on some matchups next Saturday. What do you think?
It seems to be our plan B to get us out of trouble, why not start that way so we can negate their clearances and blitz them from the get go.

Went to the game and the Lions produced the goods again.
Congratulations ladies on getting to another grand final.
Playing away will be of no concern for this side.

Until i see the replay i won't comment on the players. My old eyes can't see the other end of the ground well.
I did have a good view of our defense in the first quarter as the ball seemed to live in that area all quarter.
Once again, our defense unit held well under enormous pressure.
Something similar in the 2nd but not as bad.
The Crows were the better team in the first half and the Lions took control in the 2nd half.
I put the win down to our defense handled the pressure better than the Crows.

With the rain clearing from Saturday morning the ground was in superb condition.
A solid attendance of 4519 slightly higher than the North v Port of 4387.

Is the Crows board complaining about the umpires yet?
I posted this as the siren went to start the game. Going back to check, the first umpiring whinge was posted on their match thread 6 hours earlier and it's still going.

Someone posting the disparity in frees for over the last four Crows games in SEQ, but of course not bothering to mention they have received a 49-28 advantage from frees in the last 3 played in SA against us. I guess those were all fair and above board whereas the other games were all cheating and corruption

Two of the HTB decisions against them were legitimately outrageously bad and it felt like Ruby ran about 40 meters without bouncing the ball.

Biddell stepping over the mark was unusual but it was there she had a brain fade.

May well have been some others but nothing else super stood out to me.

If anyone from the Lions is reading this:

THERE IS ZERO POINT HAVING A FREAKING REPLAY SCOREBOARD AT THE FREAKING GROUND IF YOU DON’T ACTUALLY SHOW ANY OF THE FREAKING GOAL REPLAYS ON IT!!!!!

Please figure out the timing of your promo stingers so they don’t completely blot out the replay EVERY SINGLE TIME.

It was incredibly annoying.
