Everyone is underestimating the wind tonight at the MCG. It was swirling around and made good footy very, very difficult.
Id give me left nut for Port to be as 'boring' as St Kilda.
It isn't worth it.
Don't buy a membership next year, save the cash for a massage with a happy ending and in one hour you will have found more enjoyment than watching the saints play for a whole year.
All I could think about as I was watching the game was how neither of the sides would get close to St Kilda. The wind was a factor, but the dogs will have to lift their pressure.

Again. Watching on TV was not a clear indication of how difficult the windy conditions were. It was gusty up to 100 km/h. Impossible to kick with any precision. That kind of wind = very scrappy, ugly football.

True, it was more to do with the pressure. They didn't chase and harrass the lions as much as they would need to against a side like the saints. The lions won the tackle count, and no dog laid over 5 tackles.

It'll be a very interesting game imo, saints should get up comfortably by around 30, but anything can happen in finals, and atm i believe we have more momentum after a great finish to the H and A season, a wake up call against geelong, and a flawless victory against the lions. Saints choked against Essendon, north melbourne, looked poor against melbourne and couldnt put away a collingwood side playing like a VFL reserves side. The week off doesnt help a side thats not in the greatest form, teams need a kick up the ass to put them back into gear, and thats what didnt happen with Geelong until the last saturday in september last year.
In a lot of ways the individual game style dictates how much you tackle. Some games require more tackles than others, and tonights game saw the team who got belted laying more tackles because they were second to it.
Shouldn't use the way tonights game was played as a gauge for how we will approach next week. The same run will be there if we play well, but more of our players will be respecting their opponent and playing defensive football.
Dogs needs to convincingly win the midfield clearance battle in order to beat the Saints. If we can do that, we will generate enough inside 50's and scoring opportunities to kick a winning score. Much easier said than done of course, against a flint-hard midfield. Pretty difficult to win a preliminary final if you're not in them.
Interesting to see the team with no key forward smash the team with 2 key forwards tonight. Funny, I thought you couldn't win a final without a key forward. Midfield, defence and rucks clearly have nothing to do with succesful finals teams...

Apart from cricket, rugby union is the most boring game in the world and that's basically what the handball happy hillbillies play.
Ling, Mooney, Hawkins, etc don't have an ounce of flair between them. Ablett may be talented but who can respect a misogynist?
And the same doesn't apply to the Dogs?

Wind doesn't make you kick mongrel punt entries that barely get above head height and shortpasses that dribble along the ground and handpasses in the middle of players as well as kicks instead of direct.
Wind gives an even better opportunity to show ability and combat the conditions with piercing low kicks. But instead there were high shanked pieces of garbage that made no allowance for wind hell even straight kicks that just barely squeezed inside the boundary point post were sky high shanks from 10 metres out. Just a terrible Fitzroy vs Footscray match.

Are you serious? Mooney takes marks, plays on at every opportunity, throws his elbows around. Very exciting player to watch. Hawkins, well, he's improved his tackling, has a tendency to shank his kicks and runs a bit like a giraffe on ice, so he's definitely not boring. Lingy's got a headfull of flowing red hair. Talk about flair...
I would rather watch any one of those guys just scratch their balls than McQualter and the rest of the St Kilda drones guard the space like a bunch of robots.

The Crows have beaten the Pies and gone within 2 points of Geelong, the Dogs have been outclassed in both matches V Stkilda, I'd say it's even money...
