Preliminary Final - StKVs Bull

I will never get bored of wacthing the Dogs lose finals. Good playing, well-coached, hard-running...fourth place getters!

This coming from the supporter of a team that was first on the ladder with what 6 rounds to go? and than went out in the first week of finals?

The Crows have beaten the Pies and gone within 2 points of Geelong, the Dogs have been outclassed in both matches V Stkilda, I'd say it's even money...

It's not like I don't rate the Crows, I just cant help but defend my team to the death..when..you know...we actually play well. There is massive inner belief at the Bulldogs believe it or not.

I think there are a couple of things in our favour next week against the Saints.

1. We go in as the underdogs:thumbsu:
2. The last time we played you, as terrible as we were, we were only 18 points down a the begining of the fourth quarter and thanks to WElsh giving away a free goal due to having 19 men we lost momentum.
3. We are fitter than the Saints, and can run out the 4th quarter well.
4. Last year we beat you both times with our Brownlow medalist fit and firing, he is only just back in form now:thumbsu:

1. We've been favourites in almost every game this year and it hasn't seemed to hurt us
2. We won both games fairly convincingly. If you think that 50m penalty cost you any chance of winning you're kidding yourself
3. How do you know that? We ran right over the top of you in the last qtr, last time we played
4. Last years results are irrelevant. We are playing a totally different brand of footy and a hell of a lot better than at any stage last year.

All that being said, as has been shown in the past, anything can happen in a prelim final. If we turn up to play and implement our game-plan effectively though, we will be too good.

I think the winner of the 2009 Premiership will come from the Adelaide/Collingwood/Geelong side of the draw.

But I agree Saints will play in the GF and once there who knows?

So you are tipping 1 of 4 teams to win the flag, with 5 teams remaining.

Way to go out on a limb. :thumbsu:

Turns out the width of the G helps out gameplan.

We can run you up and down the ground sideways now just like we did to Collingwood.

Was funny, we just kept going one side to another until the zone slacked off and we got in easy. By the 4th they had nothing left. C'mon Rossy, that grinding gameplan has to pay off. Don't let them get a run on while fresh!

True, it was more to do with the pressure. They didn't chase and harrass the lions as much as they would need to against a side like the saints. The lions won the tackle count, and no dog laid over 5 tackles.

I was appalled that we didn't win the tackle count, but to do that we would have had to start tackling each other.

We won the possession count by 151. No wonder Brisbane won the tackle count, they were chasing our arse all night.

What is also irrelavant is that Murphy and Higgins both went off injured in the 3rd qtr and missed the entire last qtr. Another irrelevant fact is that Welsh and Johnson both received pretty heavy knocks during the game, knocks that were deemed heavy enough by our medico's to force them to sit the game out, but were forced to stay on the ground.

Gee I love irrelevant facts.

You guys are slightly below normal intelligence.

The cats and saints are the greatest 2 teams possibly ever and you cant get excited?? whatever.. we gave you one of the great home and away games of all time and will no doubt give you a great show in 2 weeks time.

I just think the saints have the spot on fitness and preparation. will be gobsmacked if we didnt win the flag. It would take an injury to reiwoldt and one of either hayes, monty or dal santo for it not to happen.

Cats in 2007 reached new heights in football greatness, there gamestyle list got to a new level of greatness. saints in 2009 WE have topped that and will prove it on 26th september 2009.

GO SAINTS! Sit back and enjoy. :thumbsu:

Will there be mixed emotions next week for you, as someone who was a dogs supporter such a short time ago?

Why would Saints vs Dogs be boring?
St.Kilda will try to make it boring by chipping sideways and backwards as they often do to maintain possession. It was very frustrating and disappointing that Collingwood failed to man-up last week to create a contest at every opportunity, but if the Bulldogs do that next week, then they can win.
Crows will beat Pies.
Well Adelaide are resting Van Berlo and Bock for later in the finals, so they already think they have won. If Adelaide plays as they did the last two weeks, and if Collingwood plays as they did the last two weeks (last week was Collingwood's worst performance of the season), then it's only a matter of the margin.

ALL the pressure will be on the saints
if they lose this game there whole year will be a failure.
DOGGIES will win

What a silly comment, pressure is equal across the board, for eg, how much pressure would the best performed team over 3 seasons Geelong be under this year? how much pressure would the one flag doggies be under ? The woods and crows under no pressure ?
Who ever loses here on out their season will be a failure....are you Robert Walls ?

1. Collingwood supporters thought that would work for them too.
2. You sound like KissStephanie
3. You sure you're not KissStephanie?
4. Now I'm convinced, you are KissStephanie!

Judging by quite a few posts we may as well not even turn up. :D

Yeah we'll be underdogs but we are there, won win away from a Grand Final and on any given day it can happen. I'd rather be in this position than sitting around waiting for 2010.

I don't know why people continue to say the pressure is on this team because...... blah, blah, blah. The pressure is on both teams, it's a Prelim Final FFS!

if the dogs play like they did last night they will have no chance, they still need a power forward, in big games they will fold but its finals anything will happen, and judging from there 24 point win over pies few weeks ago they are scared of saints and they should be look at there record this year got belted both times.

KissStephanie is Tess with a makeover.
Please don't discuss me in a post, or inaccurately compare me to others. There was nothing in my post that should have led you to do that, and anybody that does that is added to my ignore list. I'm only interested in discussing a topic, but if you're not, then I'm not interested in reading your posts.

I've always felt that Preliminary Final weekend is when upsets can occur.

Never heard so much crap in my life. **** St Kilda, we may get pumped by you guys this week but the way you all crap on its like you guys have already won the flag. If we lose to you guys this week then there are 3 other teams (Crows, Cats and Pies) who I am pretty sure are a great chance to beat you guys in the GF. Stop getting ahead of yourselves and win the premiership before acting like you are one of the great clubs of the league (because from the way some of you talk you sound like you have won about 4 flags in a row). Go the Doggies and I hope I see Steven Milne and Reivoldt having a sook after the game. :)

Hmmm, If we win this one I was actually going to feel a bit sorry for the Doggies....this guy has helped take that sort of pressure off.

EADE CONCEDES PRELIMINARY FINAL - PREPARING FOR NEXT YEAR MORE IMPORTANT!
After reading the comments of former Premiership players and coaches on BigFooty last night, Western Bulldogs Coach made a call to St Kilda coach Ross Lyon and AFL supremo Andrew Demetriou conceding next week's preliminary final.

After spending the night reviewing his team's insipid performance last night with the help of respected AFL analysis website Bigfooty, Eade decided it just wasn't worth risking the physical and emotional health of his brittle warriors.

"Really, the decision was made half way during the season when we realised we were not even up to Melbourne's standard," Eade said, after reviewing the disappointing contested possession (152-119) and clearance (47-26) statistics from last night's game.
" We just thought it would be better to rest our players for 2010 and wait until we get Hall so we can kick a goal in finals," assistant coach Leon Cameron remarked, who was surprised that the Bulldogs managed to score 16 goals, well down on the 12 goals scored last week by the Saints.

Other factors that influenced the decision were the disappointing efforts of the Bulldogs defence, which unforgiveably allowed the 6th placed Lions to score 8 goals last night, the poor performance of young players Shaun Higgins,Callum Ward, Jarrod Harbrow and Liam Picken who showed they couldn't handle the finals pressure, and the overwhelmingly superior finals record of the Saints.

AFL boss Demetriou was initially disappointed in the decision but was looking forward to the hastily arranged replacement match between Carlton and Essendon, with an expected 90,000 crowd (far better than the hapless Dogs would draw) to fill the coffers of the League bank account. It is yet to be confirmed that there will be a curtain raiser between 2010 premiership contenders Melbourne and Richmond.

I am hoping for a Bulldogs win next week - but I can't see it. After being at the game tonight I don't see them having a chance. The conditions were terrible, but the wind didn't affect decision making which was very poor. I think the Saints will smash them, with their pressure and their run and the two big guys up forward. C'mon the Doggies - but sadly I think that's it for you guys.

hehe:thumbsu: you do have a chance its just unlikely you will beat saints we have had your number this year quite easily, both times we have played the dogs they have been in great form.

I can't understand some of this overconfidence shown by fellow St.Kilda fans, I reakise we defeated the dogs easily twice throughout the home and away season yet this is a Prelim final.

I won't forget the night we should have thrashed Sydney, infact just before 3/4 time we had it in the bag, yet once again we went through the motions in the remaining 40 minutes and lost.

We must learn from the past before we, gloat about the future, we are not premiers yet, we can only be that after the final siren on Grand Final day.
