I suspect the VFL not having access to the Borough (not fit for use - neither is the Western oval) and the need for VFL clubs to play at home venues for finals (Box Hill the obvious case) has impacted finals scheduling.
Port Melbourne has been destroyed by citywide the same idiots that do Bayside including EP

Gerry we used to cope Casey Fields all the time. Definitely an hour away for most OI people.

Whilst the distance is BS, what do you do for the 3 hours between reserves and seniors.

Funny enough De La is fenced off. Pure profit for VAFA and De La?
Is there camping allowed at this place called Gravey ???? Planning to leave Friday night so we can wake up and cook some breakfast and get ready to watch the 2's. After that, we might head off to the nearest pub for some frothies and lunch, will we be able to get pass outs ???? Hopefully be able to get back into the ground to watch the seniors and have some more frothies during the game. Might even camp there and leave for home on Monday Morning.

Drove past this morning, wouldn’t exactly say it’s a good venue to host a final. Is in decent condition at best and the place is lifeless. Smallish ground.

Little area to warmup also….
Small???
Good sized ground.
Good atmosphere there on Saturday for the D3 finals.
Also, seen some cracking games in the past with big crowds and plenty of atmosphere - De La v Mazenod, De La v Old Xavs.

It wouldn’t be a top 10 ground in the VAFA to host a final. Isn’t in great condition either, is a bang average ground to host finals at is the point.

I’m sure VAFA would charge you extra for a powered site ..

Wish that the VAFA had of put us at Garvey last year for the GF v West Brunswick ..... but they tried to get everyone to Sandy.

If you consider the Brunswick v West Brunswick was the reserves game I'd suggest another 500+ would have been in attendance if it had been Northside.

Ground in great nick, OP's great hosts, bar/social rooms fantastic for aftermatch - but as they say .... common sense not that common.

Chump🏆

Garvey is a great ground for finals, good size, good deck, wont have a sloppy middle (synthetic pitch) and white picket fence too. Parade usually good hosts too. Unlucky for Parkdale though, but if you're good enough you'll win anywhere.
i'm going with OI and PEGS. Should be two ripping games.

Think Parkdale would be ok with venue if they weren’t playing 9.15 and 2.30
Shorly should be back to back ..
