Round 18 Honest Review

OI v PEGS

At Keillor Park

Ground conditions near perfect. Middle needs a little water.

Wind - What wind.
1-2 goal wind favouring Hockey end in quarter 1 & 2
2-3 goal wins favouring pavilion end in quarter 3 & 4
Yes PEGS had the wind for quarters 2 & 3.

Both teams in the 1st half had the chance to blow the other team off the park, but bad kicking saw the game a very tight contested game.

OI regained the game on their terms towards the later part of the second quarter to go into half time with a small but handy break.

The 3rd quarter saw OI kick 3 to 2 goals but a nasty injury to a PEGS player appeared to take some wins out of their sales.

The last quarter saw OI step up momentum with the 5 under 19’s showing their class.

PEGS hit the post 4 times to OI 2 times.
OI got a goal from a reversed free kick and OI also kicked a point that was a goal (thanks Goffa).

Nil injuries for OI with 1-2 possible to come back.

Commiserations to Ormond. Marcellin live to fight another day. OCarey to ban overseas travel next year. HR with a new coach will rebound. Mazenod suffered due to the terrible OS injury. Welcome back both AJAX and Monash Blues.

McGregor isn’t coming back. Thoug I would love to see him against Old Camberwells ruckman.

Bring on finals.

Please not at Trevor Barker. Maybe it should be closer to the top 3 teams in Prem C.
Welcoming AJAX and Monash sounds like you aren’t too confident in Ivanhoe’s run to Prem B?

Very good side…. Big time favourites for mine. Finals grounds will be the decider.

Ivanhoe on a big ground very very hard to go past.
Was very impressed with Old Ivanhoe.
Number 3 on the wing destroyed us
Good skills from Ivanhoe
Boys run forward of the ball hard
Game was evenly poised for a half
Pegs finished game with only one on the bench which wasn’t ideal.

Sad day yesterday as we bid farewell to C , fought to the end after being 1 3 to 8 4 in the 2nd , only to hit the lead late in the 3rd , but kicked 3 8 to 7 straight in the last . Injuries to gun midfielders Buckley, Langlands , Persson and J McCartney in the last few rounds really hurt , a draw with OI and 5 losses under a goal , but bad kicking is bad footy.
Fantastic after match with both coaches and Presidents speaking so well , enemies on the ground but fantastic relationship off it.
As the great Russell Barnes said he had 6 flags and 6 relegations , you regroup and go again.
My pre season pick was OI and i'm sticking with it .
Good luck "Max B grade Leader "

Who won the Barnes Medal for BOG in the Ormond v Rovers game yesterday?

Should all southern local clubs move to Southern Bayside footy league
Let’s say this fictional Southern Bayside comp was still a few years in the making and it may require some VAFA district clubs to pull the pin first and come across to the SFNL. Would this be more a possibility now you are down in D1?

Not 24 hours yet , but the mood at the vote count was to bounce straight back to C , great young list and 19s are back and maybe 2 under 17s again

I heard Old Carey plan to confiscate players Passports when they sign up next year.

What a ******* disgrace.

Prem C -

Seniors at 2.30pm
Reserves at 9.15am

At De La. Not a finals ground with little warm up area and not great sized rooms.
Absolutely shafted… not even close to either side !

Other game copped Garvey oval on the Sunday..

Premier C definitely not in the good books of the Vafa…

Surely the VAFA CEO or the person who runs the finals series on behalf of the VAFA could go on the VAFA website and explain why the first week of the Premier C finals is at De La Salle's home ground and not somewhere like Sandringham.

Sandringham is too far away for OC, OI and PEGS.

And is Div 1 at 11 45 ?
Solution from Prem C on Saturday.

All OI games at De La
Under 19’s 9.15
Reserves. 11.30
Seniors. 2.30pm

The D1 11.30 game be transferred to Chelsworth.

Ground is in perfect nick. Change rooms are big enough. Plenty of parking and plenty of space to warm up on.

Ground size is 153 long x 110 wide

Solution fixed.

Not sure about the rooms Max and who mans it if all your teams are elsewhere

Parkdale playing Sunday , seniors and reserves 9.15 and 2.30 - 1 hours drive away at Gravey !!
S…t scheduling ….

Gerry we used to cope Casey Fields all the time. Definitely an hour away for most OI people.

Whilst the distance is BS, what do you do for the 3 hours between reserves and seniors.

Funny enough De La is fenced off. Pure profit for VAFA and De La?
