Watched VAFA Tragics last night, and discussing the Final Four.

If OM's can win 1 of the next 2 against Blacks and/or OT I dont see how they will miss. They have 3 of the following 4 games at Elsternwick from Round 10-13.

Huge game this week at the Uni.

If i had to rank each game in order of interest;

1. De La v Blues
2. Blacks v OM
3. OT v Xavs
4. Snowdogs v SKOBs
5. Collegians v Carey.

De la over Blues at Dairy Bell.

Blacks to roll OM's. Saw them (OMs) last week, underwhelming to say the least.

OT over Xavs. A Xavs loss will throw them into turmoil...

Skobs to continue the roll. Bernies looking pretty well stuffed if teams above stretch the games gap.

Coll v OC. How would you know? Colls at home..

OM's for mine. Likely to get a few back with the VFL bye.

OT's over Xavs. Can't believe they lost after their first quarter!

SKOBS easily. No contest.

De La and blues to draw.

Collegians to continue Carey's unfortunate season.

What the VAFA should've done re the AFL Victoria Championship (where the metro leagues go up against their country counterparts) was to send a second-string team (ie Divisions 1-4) to play against the Geelong FL, while the Seniors (Premier-Premier C) go up against SA. At least having a 'Reserves' side to represent the VAFA would keep AFL Victoria happy.

Briza, one worry must be the "form" of a club great.

Q1 - 12 minute mark.
Q2 - 5 minute mark.
Q2 - 24 minute mark.
Q4 - 24 minute mark.

For a guy that doesn't spend a lot of time on the oval, seems to be getting "2nd to the contest" regularly.

They chose not to participate so at least every other comp would be competitive..and besides, the rep footy the Ammos do have is already greater than the Championships itself...I would like to see though given the match against Vic Country in July that B-D4 plays a Vic Metro combined side that weekend also. The best of the best as it were.

Jeeze... He's lucky that kid got back up and didn't suffer any serious injuries.

Would have been plenty of weeks if it happened in the AFL.

A few very soft efforts there.

Q2 5 min mark looked like a good hit in real time but the last quarter deserves weeks.

Some strong teams coming through on the vafa website. Who benefits the most and the least from (most of) the VFL teams having byes? BERNIES with a few back and OM's also have two guns returning.

Luke Mitchell with a transfer to play for one week after being in the SANFL for three years and AFL before that.
What a farce, I'm sure Beauy will be happy after the Milne saga last year.

Some teams will play none and my club will be one of those. Don't see a lot of value in "one off" appearances at the risk of disenfranchising players from your core group.

In my experience most VFL players who come back into the team are welcomed with open arms. Many have been integral to the side in previous seasons, remain around the club, but have been able to find themselves at a VFL club trying to play at the highest level they can.
The VAFA clubs love to see them as many times as they are fortunate enough to. Core group disenchantment is about as likely as a real Elvis sighting.

In your experience? ....Please.... That is absolute bulltish and you know it.

I’m not talking about the many who divide their time between VAFA and VFL. I’m talking about the few who appear once every year or so. They do nothing for the fabric of a team and surely you understand the risk in pushing aside a regular for a one game wonder.

Beaumaris flew in a SANFL player for a one off game mid season last year. The fall out was extraordinary. They got flogged, failed to win another game and finished stone motherless.

Canada please don’t try and turn this into another personal fishing trip along the lines of your Ian Aitken love in on the C grade thread.

You have no idea about my experience. You don't know who I am.
I completely disagree. FROM MY EXPERIENCE, players who play once or more times are year are welcomed.
They have their VAFA team as the team they play at when they can.
Agree re Beauy example but IN MY EXPERIENCE I have never seen that type of thing.
Your initial comment didn't highlight the floating as much as your later.
Chillax.

So which part of “one off appearance” in my original post did you interpret as referring to anything other than a one off appearance?

But... I still think VFL players coming back is great.
What you may consider a 1 off this week...may be a 3 off by later in the year.

You are killing me mate.... I consider a one off as a one off. That is one game and (virtually) no prospect of anymore.

I genuinely enjoy your musings but probably time we racked the queue on this one.

Spot on. Every player loves it when a gun plays a game or two. As long as its not a finals game there would be about zero chance of pissing off the playing group. We had plenty of examples in my time at SKOB, distinctly remember Chris Cain tearing up the wing at the Rat Cage one day. Surprising everybody was pretty happy that we got to sing the song that day.

It often depends a lot on the clubs involved with VFL returns. Some clubs embrace different things with varying gusto.
We can all have different opinions here and all consider ourselves on the money.

Maplebet offering a SKOB and Wesley combined 20 goal victory special today. We think it's a lock. Just add up combined winning margins and if it's under 120 points Maplebet pays out.
$4.50 if you are keen.

Some poor kicking by Wesley cooked Maplebet.
What we have learned from round 8:
Watch out for Xavs and SKOB.
De La's win will be huge in the final makeup of the 4.
OM's are not as good as some thought.
Trinity desperately need Scribe back. He is the good luck charm.
Very even from 1-8.
St Bernard's will drop with Panthers.
