I'll happily reveal names, to the VAFA Intergrity Officer. Everybody in the know is aware that Ron Nicholson left Beauy because he was disgusted that some club and committee involved 'supporters' were paying players bags of cash, in fact, Mifsud was paid over $20,000 the year he was a playing coach...only a lazy $18,000 over the allowed limit!

Its a big junior footy club, parents talk my boy!

Ron Nico left Beauy to help RC where his son inlaw was playing / coaching, who were struggling and needed a new senior coach as part of being able to get PMc (also from Beauy), Ron was to come onto the commitee!!

Not sure where your info comes from but I was on the RC commitee at the time re Ron Nicho your info is incorrect!!

Wow.....
I also know many parents of the junior football club but none have EVER mentioned anything about payment to senior players.

Never seen them play before Saturday.
Just took em on face value...
But told a mate when I was watching that if they had that team last year they would of won B grade by the flemington straight.

You can easily go on the vafa website, click on each player listed in the "detailed results" section and see their previous playing history over the past 2 years.

I'm pretty sure 99% of the players that played against the snowdogs on the weekend played games for the sharks last year.

Maybe people are under-estimating the value of hard work, team ethos and game plan and over-valuing names on a piece of paper?

Or maybe the gap between Premier A and Premier B isn't as big as what some people would like to believe...

It's very early days but it's good to see some people already on the backfoot fearing a "suburban" club is rising in ammo ranks

One thing that will never cease to exist in the amateur ranks is jealousy and anonymous pot shots.
Credit where credit is due. They have made the jump and executed themselves quite well so far.
It’s a long year. But Beauy have positioned them selves well to not only stay up but maybe just maybe push for finals.
I look forward to playing them in the coming weeks.

It's great to see a district club up there, Beauy have huge numbers if juniors so you would have to think they are there for the long haul ala Ormond back in the day.

Did anyone hear Nick Bourke on the radio Saturday morning? It seems OX have lost a tonne of players as have Collegians, perhaps the top grade is not as tough as it once was?

Lions have lost quite a few, but were also missing arguably their best 6 players on Saturday, plus one or two others, so not surprising they are struggling to win at the moment. They will get better as the season progresses and players start getting back. Whether or not it will be enough to mount a genuine defence of the title is anybody's guess.

Noticed on Saturday Xavs have dusted off Lynch who I thought had hung up his boots.

Unlike the Violet Crumbles they have some depth and a bit of quality to come back in. Colbert being one who isn't far off.

Gap as big as ever, just ask Caulfield who went winless season last year. OH up and straight down the year before and OMs lasted just two seasons despite a massive recruiting effort.

Obviously Beauy did their homework. Have worked their backside off to make sure they are not just competitive but a genuine threat and good on them. The district side stuff is just a myth and almost everyone in the VAFA welcomes it. Hope to see a few more suburban clubs in the top grade in coming years, although a few that threatened (Oakleigh & Werribee) have seemingly run out of steam.

With just 3 rounds played I am a long way from declaring the sharks as morals to play finals or Xavs and Colls to miss out for that matter. Way to early for those predications just yet.

Having said that I can’t wait to play them this week. Not much love for my mob either in the off-season. A Rd 3 match of the day clash between the only 2 unbeaten sides stage would have been very long odds indeed. Beauy’s form impeccable while ours a bit patchy, particularly last weekend. At home they will be warm favourites you would think.

Beauy have come from the first semi in B last year, not exactly a dominant team last season.

Caulfield haven't won a game since 2011, so how does that correlate with the strength of A v B?

How does it correlate? Won the flag in 2011 in ‘B’. Did not win a game in 2012 in ‘A’.

Collegians missing their 6 best players shows that they too have some quality to come back in. Crumbles?? More like champions of the last 2 years aren't they??

Beauy - Killing it, GOOD ON THEM, nice to see some new clubs coming up and actually doing something and in even better news it looks like the B Graders (Old Carey) might end up back in B where they belong!!!

Write off Xavs and Collegians and your own peril... Not much said about the other blue and gold team, they'd be very happy they way they're going about it also.

Last year the top 4 teams were set after round 3... wouldn't expect the same this year.

Question - has there been a coach that has come to the VAFA from the other local leagues that has had any success?
I can't seem to recall anyone? Is it a bad practice to do this? I think it would be quite easy or easier to coach a team to success when you have 300K to play with....

Peter Nicholson - Premiership Coach at St Bernards and Old Haileybury, I miss Nico. Still remember the day he abused the Old Trinity players at half time in the reserves when they were doing warm ups at the Snake Pit.

What you got against Old Carey?? You can't wait to put the boots in every opportunity.
This weeks tips

Beaumaris
Xavs

St Bernards
Uni Blacks

Didn't he came from the VFL and not the suburban leagues?

So he sounds like every St. Bernards supporter that is out at the snakepit these days. Glad he set a good example for the animals out there. What a fine mob they are. What sort of coach does this?

Just a nickname YHM. More to do with the colours than anything else.

Noticed Sautner was missing on Saturday. Very important to you guys as he straightens you up.

Not much quality in the twos which must be a bit of a concern.

Still think you'll be there when the whips are cracking if you can get your best side on the park.
