Holy crap. That's 8 losses in a row. Who the hell is talking to them pre game? Greg Norman? Jana Novotna?

Tape shows:
at 30.30 Q1, Gabelich gets a free kick.
Ordinary handball to Dowd who has to prop.
Dowd is cannoned into - get's a free kick, gets up straight away.
Not a lot in it, according to the commentators.
Lynch and one other from SKOB's remonstrate with Uni guy - not a lot in that.
Camera pans downfield with Lynch moving back into Uni guy's space.
Dowd reported (umpire just 5 to 10 metres away) and melee ensures.

FWIW - it appears Dowd got off, both clubs fined for melee. A lot of deep breaths around St.Kevs no doubt.

Don't know anything about the incident. But I'm pleased for Dowd. Seemed out of character from my observations of the way he usually goes about his stuff.

Lets hope OC gets up. Would be a great result for the Supporters from the South. Ins to B are Parkdale. Hampton, Brighton and StBedes. Only road trip will be Fitzroy. Have not seen any C grade but would imagine sides coming up would have needed to have made huge improvements to be competitive. Old Ivanhoe were competitive but not good enough and OH are not a bad side.

Nine now.

Surely poor Brian will defect to another club for 2015 to preserve his sanity!

SKOB should request a regrading to Premier C.

Back to the cheap seats HF.

BS will be there through think and thin, and will rise above no names who throw barbs, especially when their alleged team who haven't set the world on fire in their finals campaigns.

Massive chokers. Lets not beat around the bush. That record of straight sets losses is unbelievable. Got within a couple of points of Carey mid way through third and then went to water. Roach and Smithwick in particular just ate the footy for last quarter and a half. Astonishing performance by both. So tough. Ran so hard. SKOB just dogged it...again.

Fantastic win by the Panthers today, very similar game to last week. Agree with your Smithwick and Roach but thought Bongo #7 was best for the Panthers. Amazing finals record by St Kevins not being able to get over the line once after so many finals appearances since 2004.

Can't wait for next Sunday

Yep him too. And Howat. And Rice. Good bunch of tough onballers.
Rice was great late being loose in defence.
Good luck Carlton man. You will need it as Uni have equal of your onballers but much greater depth and better talls. And a week off. But you're back in A and that's all that matters.

Congrats to Old Carey, they thoroughly deserved their victory and promotion, just too good for us today.
In regards to SKOBs finals record, I'm not sure it means anything to the dozen or so who had never played a final until this year.
We will be back next year, doing our best, look forward to another crack in 2015.
Max, good luck next year with the Hoers, absolutely certain you guys will be awesome in C and win it.
Finally, good luck to both teams in the Grand Final next week, let's hope it's a great game.

If Hampton bring their current side and add a couple they will be a finals contender IMO. They are a very handy side.

I can only find the last 5 years or so and it's not pretty:

2009: Straight sets
2011: Straight sets
2012: Straight Sets
2013: 1st elimination loss (to OM's)
2014: ?

To fill in the gaps:
2010: Hovered around the top two spots for most of the year, lost all 3 games Rd 16 to Rd 18, missed out on the finals on % to Maxy's Team.
2014: Straight sets.

What's going on down there?
For What It's Worth, it's not pleasant reading is it? But really Uni Blues and Carey were the more dominant sides all season. SKOB for mine were probably around that 4-5 mark.
I dont like kicking teams when they are down but previous seasons shouldnt really have any bearing on the current. Imagine there has been significant turnover in players and coaches during this period, so to me they are a consistent team that has never been dominant and probably not had much luck.
Carey's big names stepped up yesterday when needed, some of the missed opportunities for SKOB in the second will burn for a while.
Should be a great GF, bigger ground will suit Carey and would not be surprised if they get up but a week's rest and some quality talls should get Blues over the line. Let's hope the wind stays away!

SKOBS have to keep going out in "straight sets" so as to keep ahead of Old Scotch...its that simple.

In news from the Nodders, Adrian Connelly was sacked late last week as coach. Terrible, terrible decision.
Word is the new coach was approached 4 weeks ago - if true, bad form by the committee.

My read on this over the last 6 years:

Lynch - an absolute standout.
Dowd, Simpson & Edgar - stars.
The ex Richmond player - star but perhaps only played the one and a bit years.
The next level down - Bish, Brickie vvgood but they have moved on.
Loved the way the Newman's and Campbell played the game.
Have brought through a lot of U19s / School footballers over the years.

I haven't seen as much of SKOBS this year.
I do worry that when Lynch and Dowd hang up the boots, the club may drop a level unless they can get the younger players to stick around the club, become more experienced, take the next step.

IMO, given the above, SKOBS have done well to make the finals each of the years.
From what I saw this year, there are some good signs.

PS: Uni Blues, probably 3 or 4 goals better sides than the other two standout Prem B winners of late - Old Carey (2010) & Uni Blacks (2012).
