While I had initially dismissed it when it was mentioned on this forum a while ago, Brett Eddy continues to be mentioned as a certain starter for De La this season.

After dominant seasons with Vermont he could do some real damage in Premier B.

Vermont are relatively confident he won’t be lining up for them in 2020.

Their highly paid recruiter Paul Cooper has done a great job, albeit a year too late. Eddy definitely at De La Soul.
Far from a done deal. Has had a Godfather offer from a big O&M club that is going to be very hard to turn down. One of those heart v head decisions and my mail is the head (and all that goes $$ with it) still looks the most likely outcome. Hope I’m wrong.

Btw at least 3 other VAFA clubs have had a real crack at landing him also.

Happy New Year to all and sundry.
I'll go first!

Today, the Willi CY’s Cricket Club had organised a fundraising function in support of the Victorian Bushfire Appeal with all proceeds being donated to the Red Cross.
Williamstown being an all-encompassing and supportive community, with the four Fearon Reserve clubs having an exceptionally good relationship, held a joint junior cricket gymkhana in support of the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. The academy was for all local juniors, the atmosphere at the ground being typically Williamstown, regardless of club affiliation.

Games played between the 'Fearonites' were: --
Willi CY’s footballers v Willi CY’s cricketers. The game was a draw
Willi Imperial’s CC v Willi Lacrosse Club. The game was a tie
The $wherewithal hasn’t yet been announced; however, it shouldn’t be too long.

IN ADDITION, the CY’s footballers had their first post Christmas jog on Monday evening, and many cobwebs were blown out, especially when they jogged along the beach.
More shortly.

Could say the same for Port & South Melbourne.. who wouldnt love a block of land in either of those today..

People in the eastern suburba are so clueless to the rest of Melbourne.. i worked With someone who couldnt believe i lived in Essendon because it was so far away.... they lived in Mount Waverly
Squinters will always be squinters

Robertson and Richards have gone to Old Mentonians, as has Mirams
Really. I heard both Richards boys had retired. Mirams is a Mentone Grammar boy and has bounced between both clubs for years. Robertson is a surprise. Was apparently shopping himself around for $ to some SFNL clubs in the off season. St Bedes had already lost the remaining Garside boy so might have a few holes to fill. Spirited club so would not right them off yet.

Vultures have had their wings well and truly clipped also with heavy departures. Main benefactors from the Bedes and Vulture defections being Mentonians and Cheltenham/Dingley in the Shit Footy League I believe.

Whispers around that Old Carey is in all sorts of strife. At this stage, not enough players to fill one senior team, let alone two!

rumours of demise are greatly exaggerated.

I wonder if it has to do with the appalling facilities and ground that they are forced to endure. Sadly I envisage a lot of footy clubs from different comps going to the wall in the next 5 years.
I’m confused but wasn’t Mitchell at Scotch? Facilities comment probably sarcastic, but Carey has the best deck in the VAFA. They have always lacked for depth but expect they will go ok in B grade.

Touted departures form SBMT and Parkdale not evident as yet. Can’t read a lot into clearances at this early stage but Blacks have landed Waddell on top of Matt Dea so perhaps already looking the team to beat.

Yes it was sarcastic.

No they are not. Sadly Carey are in real strife and based on what’s been posted on the Premier board they may be Clubbies only in 2020 if they don’t find 30 players real soon.

While I genuinely hope it doesn’t happen, if it where who would take their place? Would Geelong or Monash get a reprieve? Would they want a reprieve? As next best finisher in C would Ormond perhaps get the chance if the others turned it down.

Hypothetical I know but interesting times all the same.

i see you, hear you and repeat - greatly exaggerated. Necessary heartache is happening for a far better future. "Things are never as bad as they and seem and things are never as good as they seem". Sometimes a back burn can become a fire but generally there is some consideration and control to it.

It would be an absolute tragedy if OC were not able to get a side for 2020, while notorious for not having the greatest depth it would still amaze me that a team within the top 2 sections of the VAFA would shut up shop.

The demise of local footy has been discussed on these pages before and it shows that no club is immune, while I'm not suggesting the VAFA is on deaths door I'm sure some conversations are being had now that the problems being experienced in D4 have made their way to Prom B.

I just hope that if they do get a side up that they are not having forfeit during well known mid season overseas holidays.

OH twos would be dirty if Old Carey weren't able to get B Grade teams up; they would have been a chance to get a couple of wins on the board if Carey twos only had 12 players
