Round 1, you little beauty.

STBMT
Monash
Beaumaris
Snow Dog's
OT

Can't get down to Dairy Bell tomorrow, a president of a lower grade club has invited me for lunch and an opportunity to experience some D3 footy. Certainly looking forward to it and putting a little bit of cash over the bar.

Best of Luck to all teams for the season.

Certainly an unexpected win at Dairy Bell today, always hard to beat De La at home but good to see the young crop deliver a win over the side coming down from Prem. Jimmyjack did you get down to see the game?
Was watching a relative in another comp GY so did not get to the Bell. Pleasing result against a team that has spent the last decade in A grade, although hard to draw many conclusions after just one game, played in what I expect were tricky conditions. Must say I was surprised at the 2s result. De La won the ressies flag last year with a leg in the air but were well beaten yesterday. Perhaps depth might be an issue.

Some interesting results yesterday. OGs taking it right up to Beaumaris and Monash copping a belting. The others probably expected, although the margin in the Willy CYMS game did surprise as they are usually very competitive at home.

The ground at Brunswick St was in good nick. Cricket pitch was dangerous and needs attention. Synthetic cricket wicket with light sprinkle of rubber bits on it. Too hard and too slippery. Great burgers on hand however :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Snowdogs gave Willi a fright in the first quarter kicking 11 goals. CYs steadied responding to the tempo, matched Bernies for the remainder of the game and lost by the earlier 11 kicked.
St Bernards could very well be back in A shortly.

Don't they have turf wickets there now ?

They have both, council wouldn't remove the synthetic pitch as it accommodated more of the community. The turf table sits right next door to it, certainly made fielding in close a little more interesting this past summer.

In fairness to the council I understand it's becoming quite a common occurrence to see a turf and synthetic wicket right next door to each there on the same ground.

Its to allow juniors to play as they don't play on turf wickets. Utilising allot of grounds this way, but doesn't bode too well for senior cricket and wicket preparation ??????

Perhaps from the OX team being gifted a 3rds flag in Div4 this year after winning it in Div 1 in 2022 :unamused:
I’m no Xavs apologist but perhaps do your homework. The team in Div. 4 Thirds is their fourth 3rds team. They have others in Prem 3rds, Div. 1 3rds and Div. 2 3rds. Expect the group that won the 2022 Premier 3rds flag is going around in that grade (or the two immediately below) rather than the 4th division.
