B Section Premier B - 2025

With the VAFA sections now set for 2025, next comes the season fixture.

This is how I reckon Round 1 of the 2025 VAFA Premier B season would look like:

Hampton Rovers v Old Geelong
Old Carey v Caulfield Grammarians
Old Ivanhoe v Old Melburnians
Williamstown CYMS v Fitzroy
Old Camberwell v Old Trinity

Why

He has, apparently a link with former Leongatha coach Matt Mansfield? Have heard Harding is a ball magnet, what's his disposal like? Quality player?
Get’s it plenty but doesn’t hurt you with it like the elite users at VAFA A grade level(referring to the ex AFL mids), but certainly a very nice player at that level. Will be one of the best in the competition, a terrific get.

From OM’s perspective a real hammer blow.

Thanks for the response, they already had 2 of the best few mids in the comp!

Wonder how many players OM lose with the relegation. Do VAFA sides usually lose many players when going down?

VAFA clubs lose players on the way up and way down.

The lure of cash in this current economic environment is also impacting clubs and players. It hasn't been a huge factor for the past 5-10 years, but it is really coming back into the scene now.

The country and suburban leagues have picked up their game around attracting talent. Cash is the main driver, however accommodation (for parents coming to watch as well), job opportunities etc are also on the table.

Career support has been the main weapon for VAFA clubs, however now it is really about keeping groups of mates together and utilising their loyalty to each other as much as to the club.

When unemployment starts to go up the tables will turn again but those of us in the VAFA are in for a rough period.

Old Geelong have signed former West Coast player Jackson Nelson. Played in the WAFL for West Coast reserves after being delisted a couple of years ago. 28 yrs old and still plenty to offer. Decent signing.

Decent? That’s a huge signing for the Oggers! Great people and a great club, they have an amazing network and two schools to draw from, would love to see them in A Grade soon.
