only if he was 5 cm taller, would be an absolute bull. Tho i rekon he is a bit of an underachiever he is as explosive as a dangerfield, has elite footskills like a pendlebury and good around the goals like a swan. Has the hallmarks to be a top 10 mids on the comp but hasnt lived up to it yet. Have a feeling this is the year he lives up to his full potential.
So, you mean hopefully this year he completely licks the opposition? His tongue certainly looks readyonly if he was 5 cm taller, would be an absolute bull. Well more like he is in his prime and most guns hit their peak around 22-24 but theres a lot of players that do go another level later than that (ie gray, priddis). Hasnt he only just missed like a few weeks. He's still somewhat young. Pity he's had an interrupted preseason. Love the Shue

His 2011 is as good as most kids and if he was in a vic side he would have won the rising star. He booted more than a goal a game and still had the ball over 20 times a game and was much more dangerous with ball in hand than heppell. dare i say his 2011 was superior to cripps of 2015. His 2011 was judd like it looked like he would become a household name like fyfe, dangerfield, pendlebury and etc. However, injuries and the fact he has struggled to break tags has stopped him from being a top line mid. with the inclusion of jetta and redden and yeo spending time in the middle, shuey should benefit and hopefully become one of the best/dangerous mids in the comp.Shuey is primed.
I think the glandular fever and loss of his sister put him back a fair bit early. He showed a lot in his first game against Brisbane in round 1 at the GABBA all the way back in 2010. 18 touches and 2 goals.
His work late last year and in the QF was out of this world.
His GF was a bit of a mess but the effort and work rate was there. Can only get better from here.

He said that he's not lived up to his potential. Nothing he said was incorrect. Not attacking you Avishka, but this is the same Shuey who missed at least three teammates in better position for goals and also missed easy goals himself in the GF right? The same guy who's struggled to break a tag for years and was well known for going missing against the top teams for years as well? I'm a big fan of the Shue but lets not get carried away just yet eh? He's not going to be elite till he wins games regularly off his own boot or stands up under pressure like his predecessors Cuz, Kerr, Judd, Matera, Kemp etc. I realise he's the best of a bad bunch at the moment, but if you really want to see elite, see the names i mentioned previously. It shows how bad our midfield has been for years that we are so willing to put labels on guys that dont quite deserve it yet. Hopefully he does step up and become elite because we can certainly use one or two elite mids with the spine that we have.

to be fair he did turn a corner last year and stood up when he needed to (except the GF). I think QF, port game and few others last season. he did fail the big one but so did alot of his team mates. Shuey has been tagged for many seasons now but last year when he got tagged, he made sure that his disposals are damaging one. The north game is perfect example, jacobs kept cotchin and kennedy quiet in the weeks before but held shuey well as well. But this time shuey was bale to kick 2 goals during a crucial part of the game and more than half his possessions that day were clearances. Im not saying shuey is in the class of judd, cousins, kerr and etc but he did bridge the gap from being a highly rated junior to become an elite player .Not attacking you Avishka, but this is the same Shuey who missed at least three teammates in better position for goals and also missed easy goals himself in the GF right? He was saying he was close to elite which I disagreed with, for the reasons I mentioned. He said that he's not lived up to his potential. Nothing he said was incorrect.

Yes but he isnt far of the guys you mentioned. At his best he is as influential/dangerous as pendles, hodge and dangerfield. His problem has been consistently, which he is still working on. guys like pendlebury, mitchell and most other elite mids these days average 25+ disposals a game. Shuey in the last few seasons been hovering around 24-23 disposals a game and just shy of the top mids of the comp. Shuey is but like dangerfield in the sense that he doesnt need to much of the footy to hurt the opposition . This will be controversial but a shuey 25 touches is more damaging than mitchell, priddis, jk and a few other top line mids and once he starts getting get into the high 20's more often, he will be considered elite. He was better than previous seasons last year, and he wasn't the only one who failed in the GF I agree, but I class elite midfielders as the equivalent of Pendles, Mitchell, Hodge (when played there), Kennedy from Sydney etc (currently playing), and i don't consider Shuey to be the same level as them. Considering we're a club that's had the likes of Judd, Matera, Cuz etc, I think we can't really call any of our current mids elite as they don't stack up to those names, but everyone's entitled to their opinion.
Those are reasons why he isn't already elite. He was one of the best players in a grand finalist team last year. That must count for something. He was saying he was close to elite which I disagreed with, for the reasons I mentioned.
