Yeh, but we lived near the casino. But 3 people could walk into town back then. There were always people walking between the various venues. Wouldn’t do it now unless you were in a large group. Absolute tragedy what’s happened to that town.

A few years back I drunkenly walked back by myself to the Todd (where I was staying) from Bojangles. That's not a big walk but was told the next day I should not have done that! 😄

Also heard stories of people getting a cab (for safety) to take them from the Todd to the Italian restaurant across the bridge.

Pretty sad.

Agree, a good mate of mine who worked for a stock firm up there for thirty odd years said it is just deteriorating rapidly

It’s really sad, we loved the place. The missus was looking forward to the day that she had lived longer in the NT than anywhere else. But you can only be broken into so many times and witness the horrible antisocial behaviour before you need to get out. We still walk around mt gambier central and talk about the lack of noise and being uncomfortable with the silence and lack of humbug.

Funny story, we still own our house there and I expect we’ll return for a year or 2 to work pre retirement.

Casa nostra is a great Italian restaurant. No license, so enjoy good nonna Italian food and only pay a few $ on top of retail.

To me Mt Gambier/ Alice Springs the choice is easy

Yeh, but I’m soft. I still remember the times when European backpackers filled all the F&B and accommodation jobs and the place was amazing. Our first Christmas Day in ‘98 we drove our Kombi to Ellery creek big hole. We were largely there by ourselves most of the day until a bloke started playing didge half way up the western cliff. It was absolutely awesome. We then spent the next few hours with him and his brother. Amazing life experience.

Montes is closing down at the end of the year, they said because of the crime. Very sad.

We know Kyle and that group quite well. The freehold owner, Mulga, as well. I always thought they’d overextended themselves. Just because you’ve done ok at one business unit, doesn’t mean you can repeat at another. A cousin got into numerous pubs in Adelaide and failed to heed that sane advice. Liquidation is the outcome. Running anything is hard yakka. Satellite business units ate extremely risky.

I expect that Montes will be ok. Matt will probably tun it again for a bit. We’d seen the exact same thing happen with Annies.

actually a lot of players were very upset with him behind closed doors. Funnily enough playing from the same football club doesn't mean you all have the same politics.
Hogwash!

Fyfe looking like this and then you think of young Harry and realise how far away he is.

Just quietly if the Ellyse Perry and Fyfe thing is still going on if I was Perry I'd be asking to see if I could get a trade to the Scorchers next summer.... Nat is certainly a fine specimen.

We were saying the same thing when we lived there in the early eighties There was a murder a week back then not to mention the bizarre crimes like the navy guy who middle section was found in a fridge.

Spent two years there, thats two years I’ll never get back, it did have one good aspect, that was seeing it in the revision mirror

To be fair, this is a young playing group, and most young people have left leaning politics.

ROB is probably an outlier there, but I'm sure it's not coming up as an issue
They're footballers, not student activists. The idea that this would come up as anything like a serious issue is silly.
