Can someone report on Van Rooyen when you`ve got time, Im really keen to find out if you roving reporters think he might be a good punt to take this early in his career. I have never really seen him play a few highlights but he just looks like a right lump of a lad and we can get him now, basically for free if hes any good.

I want us to pick SVR, and for the crowd to yell ROO on gameday when he gets the ball and see the Melbourne fans' reaction. Their melts when people Freo people started calling Jackson 'Dogga', as though they had a monopoly on his nickname, were delicious

Also the collective anxiety of them losing JVR to us after we poached Jackson would be very entertaining

Doesn't sound like it will interrupt Sturt's preseason too much if he's back in full training by mid-January. I actually have a fair bit of faith in our Conditioning team these days which is a far cry from the days of he-who-shall-not-be-named-flipping-weber.

Mentally preparing myself for Banfield Rd1 against Brisbane:
:(
Remembering what happened the last time Banfield played Brisbane:
:)

I'd really love to see him take that next step and become a bonafide AFL quality CHF this season. He's such a likeable guy, imagine being a young KPF off the rookie list and talking about being a leader, what, 4 years into your career?
He’s honestly not far off.
Needs to clunk those contested marks. Would love Pavlich to teach him. Drops marks when he really should be taking them, especially inside 50.

Anyone who is checking out training, would you be able to tell us:

(1) Is Chapman training with the backs, or the midfielders?
(2) Is Stanley training with the forwards, or the midfielders?
(3) Is O'Driscoll training with the backs, or the midfielders?
(4) Is O'Meara training with the forwards, or the midfielders?

Thanks in advance :).

I believe it’s all upstairs for him. He doesn’t have any trouble in the WAFL or even further up the ground in the big time.

Same with his kicking at goal. Makes it look easy at the lower level but struggles to hit them clean when he’s in the AFL.

Think it's moreso that we can't afford to move him out of the forward line with Emmett and Sturt Injured

He obviously prefers him as a forward, I'd like him to start working on his wing craft tho
I think with the way Sharp and NOD are training (also Aish and Matthew Johnson) they are comfortable where things are at for Wing position. Stanley being another option.

The interview with Chapman indicates he has been training exclusively with the backs so another example of the wing being covered.

Frederick’s I like as half forward roaming upfield and then charging back towards goal with turnover.

I’d get a bit more concerned about Emmett and Sturt if not back training with the main group by late Jan. looking at Emmett he is progressing along and Sturt has had surgery already. I assume meniscus clean-up. If is minor (as reported by club) it shouldn’t disrupt him that much and a decent chunk of his rehab time will be over the Xmas break. The report yesterday indicated back training with the main group mid to late Jan.

If both have a slight delayed start to the season whilst not ideal you just make sure the replacements are fit and firing. If that is Banfield for a couple of weeks or even Patrick Voss then so be it. An Essendon Poster indicated that Voss isn’t really a KPF - he is more your mobile medium forward (just he is 193/194cm instead of 188-190cm like Sturt and Banfield).

Voss is more your Corbett type rather than a sturt

I've had the meniscus clean up. I was walking on it next day. I was running after a week or so. That's obviously without specialist care or a fitness plan.
