The best H and A team in a given season doesn't always win the GF. Last year Saints were the best and Geelong were said to be flying under the radar. This year it's the other way around and atm at least, the flag is Geelong's to lose.

I still don't think Geelong are that good. They just look good in HA they always crumble under pressure. Mark Thompsons always shits himself, remember before 07? He struggles on the big stage he's already on his bike in 11-12

Surely this is a troll.

2007 Finals series:
156-50 (won vs kangas)
92-87 (won vs collingwood)
163-44 (won vs PA)

2008 Finals series:
119-61 (won vs stk)
83-54 (won vs WB)
89-115 (lost to bradburys)

2009 Finals series:
96-82 (won vs WB)
120-47 (won vs collingwood)
80-68 (won vs stk)

They dont perform on the big stage? Perhaps take a look in your own backyard mate.

Exactly. We need to get rid of teams like this for the good of the competition....

And to give us a chance of winning a F***ing final......

It's hard not seeing Geelong winning it from here, but I'm sure the same thing was said in '08 as well.

The Saints with Riewoldt and Gram back are still an extremely potent unit, I'd love to see them get Jesse Smith up and about and in their team (I know he started playing VFL a couple of weeks ago, any updates Sainters?). If Smith replaced someone like Raph Clarke or Peake, I think they'd look a much stronger team.
So much depends on their small forwards ability to step up come finals/the GF as well.

I'm not prepared to write off the Bulldogs either, I still think they have claims to being a contender. When they are on song they are hard to stop, they don't seem to be able to put 4 quarters together at the moment. The aging forward line is a huge concern as well though, they obviously can't rely on Johnson now, Hahn isn't up to it and Eagleton is dead weight.

Same thing could probably be said about the Pies. When we are up and about we are a damaging and cohesive unit, but Malthouse seems content to only trot the attacking gameplan out against weaker teams though. We went in with a defensive mindset against both Geelong and the Saints and it clearly doesn't cut it.
We need to pass the baton over to an extent as well, I can see us making it to a semi-final again, but until we are willing to replace blokes like Fraser, L.Brown and Lockyer with their younger counterparts we clearly won't bridge any gap. It's just a band-aid cure tbh.

Hawthorn will cause some damage in the finals, but I fear they've left their run a little late. I can't see them making the top 4 and from there it virtually becomes impossible.

Like I said unconvincing

They only won one comprehensively and they smashed them but there was no pressure in that game. when the pressure is on they've crumbled. only won by one kick last year could've gone either way

doesn't seem convincing to me if they are so good. they choke

Ah no....You associating the word 'choke' with Geelong is like associating the word 'intelligent' with yourself. Unfortunately, comments like that do very little to promote your grey matter. If any team is a choker then Collingwood is that team. Qualifying final last year, preliminary final last year, against St Kilda this year and against Geelong this year. Collingwood can not beat elite teams. Simple. Geelong has just won 2 from 3 flags THEY ARE NOT CHOKERS!

Isnt it funny how Collingwood supporters just want their team to be the best but they really are not up to it? :)

You choked because apparently ur the best team of the modern era and couldnt get up by more than a kick. one kick means its anyones game could've easily lost, like the yr previously
Saying that a team choked by winning a GF by two goals is one of the stupidest things I've read in a while on BF. St Kilda if anything choked, they were the best H&A side, blahblah, yet couldn't match it on the day. I can't understand how a team can choke and win???? Yes, Geelong "choked" in 08, but even saying that takes something away from Hawthorn.

Dont worry mate, his a Collingwood supporter. Its a prerequisite to have an intelligence level that is inferior to every one else :thumbsu:

yeah brisbane won 3 in a row but two of them were against collingwood so they don't really count

i mean beating collingwood in september is like beating richmond
Thats like saying your wins against Port and St.Kilda don't count because thay have only won one in their history.

Fact is Brisbane won 3 in a row and are clearly the best team of the modern era.

Fixed for accuracy on your logic!

2008 - Cats finished on top, Hawks 2nd. Hawks win flag....Bradbury's Premiership.

2009 - Saints finish on top, Cats 2nd. Cats win flag........Bradbury's Premiership.

Tbh - I don't get the obsession that some have with being called the greatest this or greatest that. Fact of the matter is we have won 2 of the last 3 flags and I couldn't be happier. Simple as that really.

How others perceive Geelong is up to them. I am so proud of the club and very happy to be supporting such a class act.

I agree with you mate.
Enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts.

Oh, and Geelong have choking history. Look at 08 :D they were more hotly tipped that year and got smashed. They only won by a kick last yr. so they have been unconvincing and yet ppl think they are way ahead because of HA form

Are you really that simple? Last year we couldn't kick the ton but now we are the leading offence force in the competition. As far as choking goes your blokes have that title down pat.

REB

You of all people should know there is no such thing as a Bradbury premiership.

You really left your brain behind when you started with this. You broken new records for typing rubbish. Imagine labelling a side that's won 2 from 3 as chokers, especially last year when they didn't even finish on top. And all this coming from a Collingwood supporter. Pot, kettle. black. I'm laughing at you as I type.

This post leaves me cold. It just makes way to much sense for a Filth fan. Clearly you are trolling. Nice troll BTW.

too early too tell.
people are writing of collingwood now after a rollercoaster month and suddenly back on the st.kilda and bulldogs bandwagon.

Geelong vs Someone in the GF.

I don't think anyone is writing Pies off. If they are they are stupid.

Don't think many are on the Saints bandwagon either. I don't think we are playing great footy at the moment and I think Cats are travelling far better.

But it is only round 13 and at this stage, Pies and Saints are doing enough to make the top 4. Form is cyclical, it is very hard to go an entire season at the top of your game. We just have to have faith that the respective coaching teams have the teams at the top of their game in September.

No question that the Pies or Saints on song can beat Cats.

Not really, Geelong in 08 and St Kilda last year. But you make a good point, finals is very different and anything can happen. My point is though, that without Riewoldt i dont think the Saints could beat Geelong. Even with Riewoldt, St Kilda willl be stretched against a stronger Cats side from last year. I also dont think Collingwood will get anywhere near the cup this year because they are simply not good enough. Good day
