+ an uncontested mark and a spoil. I have to admit the edit from the media department was horrible on Wilbur, IMO. All it showed me was a guy in perfect position at a stoppage who ball watched and then saved his bacon with the miraculous spoil. They should have shown the spoil and then cut to his power running from the stoppage. That’s why he gets picked each week.

Yeah I wasn’t counting the spoil… that’s a secondary “ advanced stat” that gets little focus.

Part of the problem is not being the number 1 extractor anymore, he's being asked to expand his role, which was going ok at the start of the year when he was hitting the scoreboard by the way, but it requires improved disposal and that's where he'll live or die
If Adams keeps butchering it playing as a high half forward like he did against Adelaide, it won't be him who gets dropped, it'll be Ginni or Hill and Adams will go back to the roles he began the year in - small forward changing inside mid.

Absolutely and it’s a bit of a nothing stat 90% of the time. That one though was elite!

Cox returning and Hickey missing was not the outcome I was expecting.

For all that work he will get credited with one uncontested possession. Stats never tell the full story
That is amazing. One of the better games WHE has played in the last couple of years for one stat! Tbh I don't follow stats but that is an example of how poor the stats officially collected are. We collect our own visual/mental stats, I wonder if clubs collect a whole set of stats we don't see officially or base their analysis of the same data we do, albeit maybe after repetitively rewatching the game.

One passage of play where he saved the game for us, then won it for us. Try and focus on the context.

They do. I doubt it’s one that the clubs would really use, but I think the biggest one that’s rarely talked about is kick rating. Disposal efficiency is pretty binary whereas kick rating takes into account all sorts of metrics.

No prize for guessing which umpire is not umpiring AFL this week.

Haha do people really follow the umpires that closely? I’d have no idea what the four umps names were last week and which one was the biggest culprit!

Not saying we will or anything, but what about Kreuger as sub coming on for Cox? The clubs use of the sub has been different at times and perhaps not in a good way. I just wouldn’t rule it out as an option.
That could work well actually if Frampton is rucking too. If there’s an injury it would mean that Billy could drop back to permanent defence and Cox/Krueger could ruck. Or optionally play Cox forward more with Billy taking main ruck duties and Kreuger chopping out if needed. There’s probably several ways we could work it to our favour having the extra tall available on the ground.

Edit: I see Kreuger isn’t in the extended squad so it’s all moot I guess.

I like the team, it will be interesting who is out, I know most think it will be Markov and that may be right, I think we have 1 too many small forwards though and wouldn't mind if one of them was out, someone like Ginnivan, I also like Ginnivan but someone has to go, I really like Markovs pace, it really adds to our team, at least if he is out he would be a good sub and I actually think he could specialise in the sub role when everyone is available
