That stat is 100% correct, with 73 years having gone by since a finals series was played that contained both Richmond and Melbourne.

One similar drought was North Melbourne and St Kilda, which after North was admitted in 1925, took until 1997 until they played in the same finals series together, and met in the Preliminary Final.

After Fitzroy defeated St Kilda in the 1913 Grand Final, these teams never played in the same finals series again.
