if a power forward like that is unlikely to go top 10 then this draft must have some freakishly talented players if that your prediction is to be true.

Naituai, Rich, Hurley, Yarran, Swift are all better bets at this stage to go top 3, and the top 2 will be Rich and Naituai barring a miracle. Watts is good but probably fringe top 10-15.

What have you seen of Rich and Swift THIS year. Rich has drifted back to the pack from what I hear and I don't think Swift has played many. Watts is a pretty definate top 10.

Rich will go top 2 as he is the most polished midfielder. He is the safe bet. I expect Swift to be around the pick 5 mark as he is coming off a injury, but he is a ball magnet and I struggle to see him not being in the top 10. Plus a lot of the clubs possibly with the exception of Calton (who will hope for Hurley), most clubs down the order cry out for midfielders not forwards, Richmond is 50/50. They may go for a forward.

But look at these

Melb- ruckman, Naituai
Ess- midfielder- Rich
Freo- midfielder- De Boer/Swift
WCE- Yarran
Carl- Hurley
Rich- as I said 50/50.

I just can't see many forwards going before pick 5 or 6 this year. Most of the bottom clubs are crying out for classy midfielders.

Richmond will definatly go for a foward unless someone slips. Richmond have Hughes and Riewoldt, but they are more CHF types and Schultz has moved to defence and Richo to the wing. Putt will be made into a ruckman, meaning we have a massive vacancy up foward

Where do I sign?

If the Dockers overlook a gun KPP I'll go he.

We could do with Rich if we have the chance to get an elite inside midfielder kicks goals.

The Lions killed us in the middle.

I'm guessing Hartlett would be in the mix for Carlton's first pick and a chance to join his big brother at Carlton.

All depends on what happens with Swifts knee ....if he is hurt again - he may drop to a 2nd rounder.

If the cards fall that way ...I would be fairly certain that Hurley would go to Freo at 3 or WC at 4. Freo may be tempted by the fact that there looks to be a good number of midfielders that could be picked up in the second round.

I know Freo desperately need midfield punch but if you look at Hurley - he is potentially (as they all are at this stage) another McPharlin or Pavlich in terms of flexibility in that you can send him forward or back.

You really need to just take the best player. Last year the quality well and truly ran to pick 7. This year it may be a year where it runs 10 deep.

When I look at our list ...we have Haselby and Headland coming back in next year (and perhaps if J Carr can stay out of trouble) 3 reasonably important players to us back in and Palmer, Mayne & Hinkley with another season.

Look back McPharlin is getting on and Grover punches outside his weight every round - a Hurley would sure those defensive stocks up.

Worst case scenario - Pav may end his career at Freo playing in the midfield!

At this stage I think Nat and Hurley are the only 2 guaranteed top 5's ...with Rich likely if he can show the form in the nationals.

I'd not be upset if Freo end up with Hurley.

1. Naitunai (melbourne), 2. Rich (freo), 3. Yarran (WCE), 4 Hurley (Ess)

J.White is almost done and the dees desperatly need another good ruck hes there man expecting dees to finish last. Essendon should get pick 2 and i dont think they pill go pass a Rich but they need a key defender and hurley could be picked up by the dons even if they finish 2nd last. Eagles need a small qucik forward to replace a tiring Wirrapunda. Rich may slip to 4 if freo finish 4th last as the other teams have players they need for the future.

WA draftees: Naitunai, Rich, Yarran, K.King (didnt make state 18's, because unaccountable), M.Walters, N.Jetta, J.Fiegert, M.Deboer, C.Garlett, A.Smith (played with him in school football will be a late pick but is a gun, left footer, skillful, runs mid 11's for 100m, has run a 16 or high 15 in beeptest, plays wing and onball. Hes unaccountable which may be his downfall. A.Cockie, J.Laurie, M.Duncan unsure if he can be drafted
You're overlooking the high probability that Essendon will finish last.

I've watched a couple of Swans games and Yarren is almost a certain top 3 pick. If he manages to slip further down the list, some team is very lucky.

Then again this looks to be a rather strong draft, Rich and Naitaui would have almost been top 10 picks in last years draft if they were old enough.

easily probably couldve also gone top 5
Naitunai consider better than Kruezer he beat him in the ruck and he is known for his ground work.

Rich dominated last year so he wouldve been right up there he got all australian and was one of subis best players maybe been 8th behind palmer or 9th if naitunai is included

8th or 9th? More like top 3 or 4.

OK, let's play a hypothetical and throw Nait, Kreuz, Cotch and Rich in the same pool. What order do they go in? Base it on 2007, of course. It's not easy, I'll give you that!

The Carlton recruitment manager said they'd have taken Naita at 1 and the tigers would've taken cotchin at 1, but that was without rich in the draft. Kruezer's value goes down if there's a similar player that is considered to be better.

So based on last year:

1. Naita
2. Cotchin
3. Rich
4. Kruezer

isn't the whole naitanui beatin kruezer last year an urban myth tho? i'v heard kruezer was best on ground that game.. everyone just creamed themselves coz some tall black fella was jumpin a couple of metres in the air..

spot on Bourky. I had a mate come up to me and say some WA ruckman apparently kicked 5 in a quarter against Kreuz. Things have got out of hand and the myth gets bigger as time goes on. Yes Naita won the first tapout by outjumping Kreuzer but after that big K beat him quite easily

more to the point, there is no way that Naitanui would have been as ready for AFL football as Kruezer this year.. if Naitanui was available last year and Carlton took him instead of Kruezer, it would have been a very silly move imo

From the first half of the game I saw, you're dreaming...

And Rhys Palmer was BOG for the game if I recall...

Well it came from the horse's mouth http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22821018-11088,00.html

Carlton would've accepted the Naitanui wasn't going to be AFL ready, but it's not like Kreuzer is setting the world on fire just yet either, he's only playing because they don't have a lot of options and he's yet to do enough for a rising star nomination. Their output in the first year wouldn't be a high priority

Essendon to get -
number 2 pick - Daniel Rich
number 17 pick - S.Walters
Number 33 pick - T.Swift
number 49 pick - N.Jetta
number 65 pick - C.Garlett

all WA boys who can all slip hopefully we pounce when they slip into our drafting hands
