PSD/Rookie Draft

Who is actually left to take in the PSD?

We may not even use the pick. 4 ND + SOSOS. Still a bit to play out with our list numbers and rookies.

The potential big fish falling through didn't occur, so it's either a lesser named uncontracted player or someone that escapes being picked up in the ND if we have the list room.

Wasn't it said we are going to a 40/4 split... with those we have traded in, we are only at 34 on the senior list atm?

Hartley or Mitch Brown should suffice..

Mitch Brown could be handy in the forward line..

Clubs seem more willing to be fair or fold these days. I would think another youngster on the fringe, pitty Tomlinson is contracted ;). Not sure clubs really like stealing through this process as relations with other clubs hold some weight. Be great to get a good one through the PSD, the thing is, we're bringing in a mountain of new players this year, will we actually be able to do it!

I've been reading through a delistees thread on the drafting board. 2 names stand out:

Sam Darley (WB) 186 cm 82 kg 15-02-1993 20 AFL games
GWS connection. "elite user of the ball played predominantly as an outside midfielder throughout his junior career".
Mitch Harvey (Port) 197cm 97kg 17-08-1995
ruck/forward in the SANFL last 2 years. Drafted 2013 pick 45. Same SA U18 side as Cam Giles. 2 months younger than Jayden Foster.
Darley would add to our rotations. Harvey as a rookie would be a KPF option.

No one of note, was never happening. If it came down to a PSD pick or keeping say an Armfield, I'd be going the latter.

Great for leadership, effort & setting a good example for all our young boys. We know exactly what we'll get. Keep Army for one more year.

Honestly can't see us using it.

Agreed, we are bringing in a new generation of players and armfield for his faults on field is an excellent role model off field and on the track.

Wouldnt surprise me if we take a mature ager with leadership value.. We are going to be very young so someone like a Scott Mcmahon might be useful.

Agree on this Arnfields 2nd half of the year deserved another contract

We can keep Army and take a PSD pick if we need to.

Of the Port boys:
Andrew Moore - should be a long term prospect.
Mason Shaw - if he can get his body right has huge potential.
Aaron Young if there's noone else. (still contracted?)

Oh ok, think I may have seen you discuss this with a Twitter buddy of mine. Your Tweets protected by chance? The math was doing my head in, doesn't take much...
That would have been me :)

The maths is rather easy... we started off with list numbers of 38 senior players, 6 rookie players, 2 Cat B rookies

After our delisting, trades and retirements we end up with 11 players off the list as shown below:

1. Chris Judd (ret)
2. Andrew Carrazzo (ret)
3. David Ellard (ret)
4. Lachlan Henderson (traded)
5. Chris Yarran (traded)
6. Troy Menzel (traded)
7. Tom Bell (traded)
8. Cameron Giles (delisted)
9. Matthew Watson (delisted)
10. Blaine Johnson (delisted rookie)
11. Fraser Russell (delisted rookie)

This leaves us with 29 senior listed players, 5 rookie listed players and 1 cat b rookie.

We picked up 5 kids through trades which gives us 34 slots.

Add in Jack as a FS and 4 first round picks which will give us 39.

We can either delist Warnock (a given I think) and 2 rookies (Gower and Fields). This gives us 2 picks remaining. We can take 1 PSD pick and 1 rookie pick if we want to end up with the list numbers of 40 senior, 4 rookies and 1 Cat B rookie.

We will have to promote Bryne off the cat b list and retain Wood and Sheehan on the rookie list.
