AFLW 2024 - Round 6 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
All supporter bases have this tendency to overhype injury prone young players who have not shown much at AFL level.
The longer they are injured, the bigger the hype.
You're always just one preseason away from tearing up the league until all of a sudden they're like Ben McKay in their 7th year with 70 games under their belt and not a whole lot of upside.
The only measure of talent is proven performance at AFL level over a stretch of time. Until they do that, it's all just hype.
The way Essendon fans talk about Jones, Reid and Cox is insane. Jones showed a little bit years ago, but a long way to go until he'd be considered a bankable 10 year player.
When Essendon youth finally prove they can stand up to the rigors of football, I'll become a believer. Until then it's just hope and hype.
Not when it comes to Reid and Jones in particular. Go back and review what they were doing in 2021 if you need a reminder. Watch Reid in the limited VFL games this year. The talent doesn’t just go down the toilet with their poop. The fitness, conditioning and confidence falls away though. All supporter bases have this tendency to overhype injury prone young players who have not shown much at AFL level.

For 1 season, agree. He is the Phillips replacement exactly, a terrific mentor for Draper / Bryan and that is it. It’s insurance (1), an extra coach (2) and a strong cultural / standards driver (3), alec.I can see this young Goldstein fella really going places. Good get.

Because he's such a strong culture/standards driver. Just look at North! For 1 season, agree. He is the Phillips replacement exactly, a terrific mentor for Draper / Bryan and that is it. It’s insurance (1), an extra coach (2) and a strong cultural / standards driver (3), alec.
We all strive for a flag but footys a lot more enjoyable when you win 15 games as opposed to 5
Dodoro is not unique because he's difficult to deal with. He's unique because he intentionally sets about creating an image of himself as being difficult to deal with.Funny that this is well publicised as Adrian's last trade period as head honcho at Essendon and Andrew Mackie and Jason Cripps are already putting there hands up as the air to the throne of just being a dick head in trade week.
Do we make a thread now for them and pot them for the next 20 years?
Duursma is just not very good.James Stewart out, Ben MCKay in (upgrade)
Andre Phillips out, Todd Goldstein in (upgrade)
Tippa out, Jade Gresham in (upgrade)
can nominate whoever you like, Xavier Duursma in (ace of the pack if he sorts his s**t out)
All that matters is how long you can enjoy the replay for, after that you're wanting the next episode to come out already.I’m a big believer in all that matters is who won last year and who is gonna win next year.
probably why a straight swap for Brandon Zerk - Thatcher is on the cardsDuursma is just not very good.
I'm getting a 9th vibeSeeing a bunch of flagdons content on tiktok.
With the acquisitions the Dons are either going to be top 5 or it backfires and bottom 5 imo
Depends if they repeatedly fail for 20 years and take no accountability, while also big noting themselves.Funny that this is well publicised as Adrian's last trade period as head honcho at Essendon and Andrew Mackie and Jason Cripps are already putting there hands up as the air to the throne of just being a dick head in trade week.

Dodos final ever 48 hours of trade period…
Because it’s his last year in charge and he doesn’t need to deal with the consequences down the lineWhy is Dodoro taking a top-up strategy to a list that didn't make finals?
Because a top up strategy is what he always doesWhy is Dodoro taking a top-up strategy to a list that didn't make finals?
It’s not topping up. It’s upgrading on the players they have playing those roles. Why is Dodoro taking a top-up strategy to a list that didn't make finals?
Improving the list without using any draft capital whilst having an abundance of cap space is topping up now? It was also reported that we had enough to chase the likes of Oliver after these trades. That's with the overall cap increasing in the next few years, Whilst none of Essendon's player contracts increase with it.Why is Dodoro taking a top-up strategy to a list that didn't make finals?
This has Brad Scott written all over it. Didn’t he do the same at North? Always looked to pick a team based on keeping his job, more than actually seriously challenging. Why is Dodoro taking a top-up strategy to a list that didn't make finals?
It’s the whole bullshit behind how he supposedly strong arms everyone and “wins”
You consider Graham Wright-has basically built the lists that have now won 5 flags.
How often would you hear how difficult he was to deal with, just gets the job done without any fuss
Cal Twomey reporting Adrian has paid Ben McKay $850K x 6 years. That's even higher than anything previously mentioned.
Maybe Adrian thought he was signing a deal for Ben King and not Ben McKay.
