19 first round selected players in their squad according to Herald Sun.

Massimo D'Ambrosio is one of the elite players listed, and maybe the youngest on that list, but apparently couldn't find a spot in the Bombers line up. Good trading again.

Yes, you always play elite left footers. It's another one of Brad Scott's bright ideas not playing him. He's just not a very good coach.

We tried to keep Massimo, but he wanted to go. To be fair Hawthorn were digging their heels in for a peanuts trade. So obviously didn't rate him too highly.

Because you only offered him a 1 year extension he actually ended up qualifying as an unrestricted free agent, facilitating a trade for peanuts was more out of courtesy than not rating a player we could have had for free

Whilst I hate Essendon, this stat is incredibly pointless.

Why is original draft position relevant for a player that you trade in? What is much more relevant is what did you trade for him? What did the players cost?

Eg Dylan Shiel (originally an underage selection) cost Essendon two first round picks to bring him in. But he doesn't count to the Herald Sun's '19 first round selected players' stat.

Peter Wright (originally pick 9) cost the Bombers a packet of chips, yet still count towards the '19 first round selected players' stat.

It's a nothing stat.

So Hawthorn played hardball for a peanuts trade, or they didn't really rate him. It's one or the other.

It's relevant because we have 19 first round picks in the squad. They were regarded as top end talent.

Essendon has a losing culture.
Almost every player who'se left has been better elsewhere.

You can't make a horse drink.

I mean you can call it playing hardball if you want, but if the hawks were playing actual hardball they would have told the dons to stick it and just taken him as an unrestricted free agent. We “played hardball” because you had absolutely 0 leverage in the transaction and presumably only opted to trade to maintain a reasonable relationship with your recruitment team

Peter Wright wasn't a top end talent when you acquired him...otherwise you wouldn't have paid a future 4th round pick for a player in his prime years.

That's correct. But they still played hardball. It is what it is. I don't have an issue with playing hardball.

How's the media earlier this year telling us what a gun this guy is, how he is a genius etc etc

The facts do not lie. Essendon have not made finals under a list he put together. He is an urban myth. The only good thing about him is that he has exposed the media for the frauds they are also. Just fan boys who deal in crap, not facts.

Wow- sheeds is stepping down from the board.... could this be the beginning of the end for our man Adrian?!

Next minute:

"Sheedy will maintain a role at Essendon, however, as a paid ambassador dealing with coteries, past players, and influential sponsors, a position he occupied prior to his appointment to the board in October 2020."

Hahaha- sheedy steps down off the board into a role with MORE real power and influence.

This club truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

Christ I'm glad we got him off that gig at Richmond when Wallace was coach.

Dodoro will probably replace Sheedy on the Board.
