Who would you prefer to win the final Eddie?

I think it is pretty clear eddie wants NSW- but I'm actually curious as to why he is against Tassie...his hatred of SA and QLD are pretty well known- would have thought tassie would be one state he could follow with his precious Vics out....maybe it is the memory of the infamous bye from last year....

:thumbsu: Just read in the paper that rain is expected on 4 of the 5 days of the final. Unfortunately when it rains in Tassie we usually get <1mm, so play won't be affected too much. i would like to see Tassie beat NSW fair and square though, without interuption from the elements or by playing negative cricket for a draw.

Cameron Hodgkins (Bellerive curator) also stated 'we probably won't do anything different than we normally would'. If I were preparing the pitch, i would be getting the Clarence City Council's Roads department to come in and prepare the pitch.

Think I'll try and get next Thursday off work, and if it goes to Friday, see if I can get that one off as well.

Does anyone know what time the sessions will run to and from?

Why are they starting the game on a monday lots of fans will be at work so the crowds will be small I bet it is because of FOX SPORTS

How right you are! Cricket Australia are brain dead. I know a few people who live in north tassie and would go on the weekend, but thanks to those idiots at Cricket Australia they can't:mad:

SHOVE IT CRICKET AUSTRALIA

New South Wales will regain Simon Katich, their captain, for the Pura Cup final against Tasmania starting next Monday. Katich has recovered from an injured thumb and takes back the leadership from Dominic Thornely for the Hobart match.
The Blues will hope Katich, who has averaged 74.77 this season, can add some stability to a batting line-up that collapsed for 53 against the Tigers last week. Matthew Nicholson, the veteran fast bowler, also returns to the squad having missed their last game as he and his partner prepared for the birth of twins.
Beau Casson, whose seven Pura Cup games in 2006-07 have yielded a disappointing seven wickets at 72, makes way for Nathan Hauritz. Although Stuart MacGill has again been consistent, the Blues have struggled to draw results from their back-up spinners - Hauritz has three wickets at 58.66.
Ben Rohrer, the batsman who made 163 on debut last week, retained his place in the 13-man outfit. Peter Forrest, who impressed in his first two matches, is also in the squad but could be the unlucky batsman to make way for Katich in the starting line-up.
New South Wales squad Phil Jaques, Ed Cowan, Simon Katich (capt), Dominic Thornely, Ben Rohrer, Peter Forrest, Daniel Smith (wk), Grant Lambert, Moises Henriques, Nathan Hauritz, Matthew Nicholson, Doug Bollinger, Stuart MacGill.

Call me optimistic but I want to win it outright. Have Hilf and Big rip through them on day 1.
Marsh will cherish the opportunity and play well.

I guess its hard for us on the mainland to know what its like for Tasmania having never won anything before :p

I reckon the Premier should make Thursday a public holiday so everyone can get down and see the Pura Cup handed over to Simon Katich as its the closest they will get to it for a long time :D

Unfortunately this post probably guarantees Tassie victory :(

maybe the victorian premier can make a public holiday when collingwood wins its next permership ??? pity no one on this board will be alive to enjoy it !

scuse me eddie I still have very fond memories of the Gillette Cup win under Jack Simmons, just hope for the Pura cup its not always the bridesmaid never the bride.

The Tigers are the only Australian first-class team not to have won the Pura Cup, although they have been runner-up three times, in 1993-94, 1997-98, and 2001-02. However they have won the domestic one day competition, currently named the Ford Ranger Cup twice, in 1978-79, and in 2004-05. They have also been runners-up twice in 1977-78, and 1986-87. The Tigers also compete in the domestic Twenty20 competition known as the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash, and were runners-up in 2006-07.

Well looks like all the pressure is on Tasmania for this match.

Pity we cant get haddin for this match, but i definately think we can win, as longas our bowling goes well. Please dont play Hauritz

Tasmania with the current team have a chance to dominate national cricket for the next 3 to 5 years.

A reasonally young team, with game expirience is always a good a sign for the future.

Go Tasmania, we deserve this, we have been the best team all year and it would be an amazing win for the little Island.

Go you tasmanians ;/)

I'll be there when Dan Marsh lifts the Pura Cup.

GO Tassie.
I think i might be able to sneak away from work early if it is looking that way.

Tassie have just named a 13 man squad for the big game. Both March and Griffith have been included, with Doherty the only casualty thus far. Krejza and Griffith to miss out for mine, with Marsh to take on the role of spinner, and Butters to stay in the side (it would be hard to drop him, his figures are very impressive)... Considering we bowled the same team out for 53 last game on the same ground, it would be silly to change the bowling line-up. Wright to destroy the blues in the final, and Hilf to be very tight, without taking many wickets (they are becoming very wary of him and he is starting to get the respect he deserves). Starting to get very excited...
