Fair compromise. Maybe then Vic supporters could understand the difficulty or organising your way to a GF.
Supporters all know. They have the same issue with any final in reality. Travellling to WA for a GF is no harder for the punters than traveling for a PF.

Dissapointed as its the fairest way to decide a winner.

Extra time is a farce because teams don't plan or strategize for extra time, and after managing your team to give 100% by the end of the match, then you may as well flip a coin to save us all the time. It's just as legitimate a result.

And for those whining about not seeing a result; get over yourselves. The world doesn't revolve around you. If you go to the first grand final and its a draw, then you just experienced one of the most thrilling and dramatic events in world sport. If that isn't good enough for you then nothing ever will be.

What a complete load of garbage.

What are people's thoughts on this scenario.. too convoluted perhaps?

1. Vic v Vic - replay at MCG
2. Vic v non-Vic - replay at non-Vic's home ground.
3. non-Vic v non-Vic (different states) - replay at MCG (both teams equally disadvantaged by travel)
4. non-Vic v non-Vic (same states) - replay played in that state.

Might be difficult having so many different possibilities, particularly re: ground bookings, but seems fair to me?

I genuinely enjoy the replay concept and have a feeling that if the 2010 replay was a close game like the first one, people's opinion of the concept would be vastly different.

That would be the best solution if we are to keep replay, and satisfy the non-Victorians. Although #3 may not work considering that SA, NSW travel to Vic is shorter than QLD, WA and would disadvantage the WA teams the most.
I would suggest for #3 to be replaced with "non-Vic v non-Vic (different states) - Replay at the higher ranking ladder's team home state."
Would give the ladder ranking some purposes for top 4 for interstatesr.

It's not a uniquely Australian traditional.

The FA cup still has replays for every round bar the final and used to have endless replays.
