Yeah I hope all the Matt Crouch knockers that carry on about his kick/handball ratio take the time to watch that and see how many of those handballs set up positive Crows forays forward. None so blind as those who will not see..

Hta is a bit of a misleading stat. Sometimes it's accurate (a few of those taps were on purpose) but a lot of taps to advantage are just plain luck or just well roved by a midfielder.

**** me it’s getting tiring hearing blokes like David King defend Nicks and say this isn’t his fault as he doesn’t have the list.

Is this group of players bottom 4 quality? That is a good enough group of players to be at least playing finals. Still not quite premiership material, but cmon, it’s not bottom 4 quality as we currently are. The fact we sit where we are in on the decision makers and football department at this club, who completely botched our recent pre season.

Don't blame him for missing his second chance at goal. First game, high pressure to turn the score around, being rushed due to minimal time on the clock
He looked like he started to go back slow, prioritizing settling himself to finish the work and then someone told him to be faster as he visibly changed his demeanor and was excessively rushing. Was never going to kick it once o saw that change

Would love to confirm if / who suggested he move along faster

On a brighter note. I saw something else in Borlase. He looked like he was happy to be cut loose from being a one on one stopper. Attacked the game pretty well I thought, and was end to end running in parts. Early criticism was that he doesn't have the tank but I feel he's gone past that now. He's by no means quick but he generally positions himself well. He's strong as and actually takes a strong grab. He's not a specialist kicker but he can roost a ball. Maybe we should explore that with him up forward while Tex and Thilthorpe are out of the game.

Oh, and shoulders. Did I mention shoulders?
There is something there with Borlase, I think moving him away from a pure defensive role to a more attacking defender/HF position that suits his game style? He has presence and is deceptively strong to take on people much taller than him.

5 minutes to go, 2 goals to win. Check out the performances from our 2 senior players.

Laird goes to ground after a feather touch then stays on the ground like he's been shot as the ball literally passes over his limp body. The inexperience of Borlase and Max almost get us out of trouble, until Max's handball falls a centimetre short. If you pause the video with the ball in transit, Smith is actually set in a good enough spot to take the handball before he bricks himself. He had Soligo on in the middle, or even just put his head over it and ride the tackle. Ball up on our 50. Instead of tries to kick it through a wall of defenders.

These are our senior players. Week after week.

Smith doesnt even take it he tries to kick it in the air

Refused to absorb the oncoming

Shit game....but I thought Borlase played a decent game and Fogarty did some great things, just lacked the finishing touch on a few plays. Hard when your surrounded by turkeys.

Keane looked like he was attacking the ball and player at 50%

Keane looks like he is disinterested atm and he doesn’t put his body on the line. Couldn’t care if he leaves or not!

He would have made a 2 goal difference. Which means we win. Strachan was shit and could not get out of a gallop in the third qtr. Think this groin issue he was having was more cramp from not being fit enough
We win if ROB plays, absolutely no doubt, Strachan was tonguing it big time early in the 2nd quarter, as long as his brown eye points to the ground her won't ever have a 4 quarter AFL tank. But even if ROB had played and we win there's so much wrong with how our guys are playing currently and it's not so much lack of talent there just seems to be a serious lack of direction and confidence by too many of our players. Coaches have to take some of the blame that's a no brainer.

Unfortunately the shit system that is the SANFL re the the rules for the Crows and Port isn't helping either with our development though we continue to play several top ups in what should clearly be AFL listed draftee roles. If Strachan does play more AFL we need a whole lot better set up re support than we had last night, Burgess and Borlase aren't it with the amount of bench time Strachan will obviously need.

Hopefully some good will come out of a very ugly game with the final nail in the coffin for Nicks.

Clearly we are a team desperately in the need of a new direction.

Enough is enough.

Act now Olsen or it will only become even more painful.
Has full backing of the board though.

Sign Nicks!

Biggest mistake was signing anyone who has even had a short char with Hinkley let alone coached under him.

Wow that is damming. Both Laird and Smith did not want the ball when the pressure was on and both took the easy option there. Laird just laying on the ground and not trying to get up is terrible. How can we expect to improve as a team when the senior players are setting examples like this to the younger guys. Talk about leading by example, well if they get away with it why would others bother putting their body on the line.

I sit corrected, wild how we did this and added McHenry as sub :D
Unfortunately unless we played a tandem of ROB/Strachan that cupboard is pretty bare unless Toby Murray comes on quickly with Himmelberg almost certainly gone 2025.

The most disappointing thing with him is that he didn't choose walk like an Egyptian as his goal song.

In all seriousness, he competed hard and looked more promising than burgess.
