I'd like to know how many times we score from the amount of times we go into the fifty 'cause it seems that we don't get it in there too often but we seem to score quite often when it does go in there.

Didn't Williams hang his hat on this type of thing for years?

'We get it in there via a molasses-coated stagecoach in a Dali painting, but gee-whiz when it does get in there!...'

Yeah I was hoping to see a big game from the Butch but then I remembered:
-We cant kick
-We dont know how to honour a lead
-We have the tallest small forward and the smallest tall forward in the league
-We were playing at Geelong in the wet
-He was on the best FB I've seen ever play the game.
-He's played how many games?

So I dont think we can be too harsh on the kid.

on another note great to see Moore put another great effort in, and the lobster. We just have to keep these kids in, if they are the future of the club then they must play.

Just on butch I wouldn't start bagging him until he plays crap

After 50 games
We have a decent amount of fifty entries
We have an afl standard team
And at least a c class delivery into our forward 50

Not sure about full back, but back pocket or back flank could be his (Jonas') go.

Must be a reasonable chance of being promoted at end of season.

Stupid question, but can Butcher jump? Its occuring to me that I haven't seen him do it.
True story.........he is scared of heights

Do people honestly rate Hartlett as one of our top three midfielders this year?

I notice that it's been raised a couple of times in people's rationalisation of our missing players.

I'd have Broadbent, Brad Ebert and Boak ahead of him for sure. Then it's a debate as to whether Pearce constitutes midfielder, and whether Kane's consistency (with few clangers this season but lack of conspicuous penetration) exceeds Hartlett's output, which was highlighted by two great games and a few average-decent games.

I wouldn't have him in our best 3 mids until his actual contributions start to live up to the hype on a consistent basis.

I thought Lobbe was great first game back, massive gun, big unit now, hopefully he plays out the year and has an injury free pre season, we need him.

Broady was good again.

P Stewart continues to tease me.

I can't believe so many footy experts bat on about Rodan not being picked, but can't identify that he doesn't get enough ball during a whole game!

Jonas was good.

Moore was great.

Umpiring overall very, very sub standard once again. "Was it out on the full?" Maybe, "Ok Bartell, have a free you have the ball" I mean come on!

Ohh I loved Jimmy's 100 metre kick at the end of the quarter, stat gathering at it's finest. Maybe he assumed a kick and scoring shot has more points than an ineffective kick perhaps?

Couple of things

Brett Ebert was not given a chance by his team mates. Same with Butcher and Westhoff. The kicking into the forward 50 was very very rarely in favour of the forwards. Mostly kicked to the wrong side of the area the forward was protecting, or kicked so high in the air that by the time it landed, there was 2 geelong players punching it down. Yes, Ebert didn't have much impact, but I don't feel it was really his fault. Might have been worth throwing him into the middle to get some clearances.

Thought Jacobs was horrible. Got the ball well, contested well, but always seems to pick the wrong option when disposing of the ball, particularly by foot. Kicking to two on one's, or to players in a worse position than himself etc.

Thought Pfeiffer was passable in the first half, but grew as the game went on - which he seems to do every week. Slow start, and then pickup towards the end...

Rodan was very good at the start, and totally disappeared after that.. Is this a fitness thing? Perhaps his interrupted pre-seasons are the reason?

Just like 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011...

It's time to draw a line through him and the fauxcal point role the club has been so in love with since Tredders blew out his knee.

I just want to know how you can say that stuff and yet you boak ahead of them?...boak is int the exact same boat as hartlett

It can't be a fitness thing with Rodan. AFL players cannot possibly be unfit after 5 mths of pre-season and 14 games either with AFL or SANFL. It's either work rate (desire) or concentration.
I'm sorry but I've had enough of Brett. He has shown us nothing all year....hasn't even been that great when back at the Maggie's.

Its not 100% but we have 599 inside 50s for 180 scores, so our score/I50s is 30%. The top teams have it around 50-55%

We have kicked 147.133 ( which includes rushed behinds) so 280/599 (46.7%) is closer to the 50% that those top sides get.

From the weekend
Port 37 I50 8.13 --> 21/37 = 56.7%
Gee 63 I50 14.15 -> 29/63 = 46.0%

Adel 47 I50 17.4 --> 21/47 = 44.7%
Rich 57 I50 13.9 --> 22/57 = 38.6%

Bri. 50 I50 18.14 --> 32/50 = 64.0%
Mel 54 I50 8.13 ---> 21/54 = 38.9%

Haw 54 I50 18.12 --> 30/54 = 55.5%
Clt.. 44 I50 10.10 ---> 20/44 = 45.4%

Col 69 I50 15.17 ---> 32/69 = 46.4%
Fre 33 I50 12.6 ----> 18/33 = 54.5%

WCE 60 I50 25.16 --> 41/60 = 68.3%
GCS 30 I50 5.10 ---> 15/30 = 50.0%

SYD. 62 I50 19.18 --> 37/62 = 59.7%
GWS 30 I50 5.8 ----> 13/30 = 43.3%

Under the roof
Kang 67 I50 21.10 --> 31/67 = 46.3%
STK. 53 I50 15.13 --> 28/53 = 52.8%

Ess 54 I50 21.14 ---> 35/54 = 64.8%
WB 48 I50 8.8 -----> 16/48 = 33.3%

We did alright on the weekend and appear to have for the year.

But I am sick of hearing for 5 or 6 seasons that we don't get it inside our forward 50 often enough but we are really efficient at converting when we do! Time to be effective as well as efficient and get it inside our 50 a shit load more often than we currently do.

From a couple of sites you can work out the Inside 50's and conversion. The Pro - Stats site is finally up after being down for most of the year.

Pro Stats don't counted rushed behinds.

So we haven't been that efficient this year converting I50's as the spin usually goes. We are behind all the 7 teams who have scored 1,300+ pts. We have scored 1,015pts.

I'd argue we aren't as strong on the rebound as other teams, but your good old fashion centre clearance will work more for us than most.

I'd argue we aren't as strong on the rebound as other teams...

I'm not sure whether it's fitness, positioning, timing or a mixture of the lot. You watch the Western Bulldogs and Brisbane let alone your Geelongs and Collingwoods and they always seem to have a free man or two running in support, overlap and ahead of the play for a relieving option.

We tend to regularly be stunted, having to prop sideways or backwards for any sort of relieving kick.
