We were simply beaten in the midfield today and it has been suspect all season. Remember the times when our midfield was one of our strongest positions when we went deep into the finals? Those were the times. Its almost the same midfield core that led us to 1 premiership and 3 grand finals.

This dominant midfield talk is all rubbish. We have NEVER been the clearance kings!

We threw away the cola - which probably was going anyway. But we threw it away. We have had salary cap issues ever since and list management issues ever since as we copped a trade ban as well.

Buddy looks slow and unable to get separation at the moment.

We dont even get to the 2014 or 2016 GF without Buddy.
 
But honestly our backline holding up as it is... is the main reason why our team is still up there this season (and if Port lose tomorrow we are still in the top 4!). There have been games that we threw away (Adelaide, NM, Suns etc), but there were games where we came from nowhere to win it. We are at the win while rebuilding stage but I'm not sure if we are gonna go deep if we make the finals.

See we don't know this. we may have made a play for a different player (ryder ?) who may have starred. Mummy may have brutalised other midfields in 2014 and 15 and 16 in red and white and not orange and grey.

Our hands have been tied since we took on the contract and coupled with tippett we've had issues with list management ever since.

No just no we dont get there he won so many games off his own boot.

Sinclair took a heavy hit last week & wasn't going to be 100% & I think Cameron came in to pinch a few cheap goals with marks forward between he & sinclair.
That failed so selection is to blame for today & the midfield was clearly short changed one rotation.
The fact Cameron sat half the game on the bench was an admission we had no run.
30 point lead to 24 point loss.
We scored 24 to 77 after quarter time. We were cooked.
 
Buddy has been worth the contract so far but we will see what the future holds for him. Its the Tippet contract that has haunted us but I think he will be off the books this off-season. We signed Buddy knowing that he would be the face of the franchise so it was understandable. I still remember him going god mode against Port in 2014 where he basically won it for us. That was special. At least when he fades we will have good memories of him I guess and he will go into the HOF.

Sorry, I have to disagree. It’s the Buddy contract that has burnt us as he was signed after Tippett. Regardless of whether people see Tippett a failure or not, he was signed first!

What about some of these other deals on good money long term. I.e Jack, Reid

Cola contracts fitting into the existing cap ****ed us
