Are people on here related to Gus? good young player but we seriously wondering why he isn't rushed in like the club Captain?

He isn't a priority to get into the side anytime soon surely .

If Jmac Paps and Warner return then Warner Cleary and Adams/Campbell /Whoever will be out and Parker will probably be sub .

If we get a few injuries sure Gus my
play, I just doubt Horse rests anyone given he said he wouldn't.
Misleading.

Is anyone saying he should be rushed back in? He's had 5 games.

And the only reason why he'd be in the selection frame is due to managing players, dropping quiet ones. Not that he's a walk up start to our 22/23 or anything like that.

And no, not related to Gus. Can only deal with one relative rumour, given I must be Rampe's mum because I didn't think the 2 year deal was a horrific blight on our club.

If Horse drops Cleary, and Adams stays, then I question his judgement. Cleary makes way if we get Chad, Papley, Jmac etc back sure, but you simply can't drop him this week after that effort. Not when you're banging on about effort and the contest.

I don't think Horse judges form 1 week at a time as much as the fans do.

But I agree Cleary gave a great effort on Friday was very good.

I mean if he looked at weeks in isolation Florent would have gone a few weeks ago and maybe not played the last 2 and he has been good.

Interesting times just hope he picks a side that wins.

He's the player banged on about every week to be included , even when he was injured it was Sheldrick is coming back.

To me he is just in the Cleary Corey Mitchell mix of fringe VFL players for the future that's all.

Rampe - good call

It's not just one week for Adams.

Florent was good the other night, not the last two. In fact, the Pies game was one of his worst.

It's just odd he was ok when he played seniors . 5 pretty good games and looked ok. But wowzers
Angus?
Yeah for sure.
I'm a believer.
Will have a fantastic career for the swans. He's very young and he's behind in the pecking order in selection for a pretty important position. All being equal.

No two bad weeks for Adams and maybe he should go, but he was fine before that and doing his job when plenty of others went missing.

If he is out this week it wouldn't shock me , so who knows , I am just guessing Horse next player out is Corey Warner then after that Cleary.

Angus?
Yeah for sure.

Doubt he is coming in for the finals is all. 2025 yeah for sure and agree the potential is there

CC is one of the most exciting prospects IMO.

Potentially taking Papleys "position" , not his place in the side going forward.

He is being "banged on about" because some of us think we should manage/omit some players, and he, along with Corey are the in form VFL players. He's a first round pick, who looked very good for a young player when he had a run of senior games last year, so sue some of us for having some enthusiasm.

He's a level above Mitchell for those who watched AFL last year, and VFL this year. Too early to tell on Cleary, but his senior games have also been better than Corey's tbh.

I'd like the coaches to do their jobs and manage players that need managing. This "leaving it up to the player" idea is a poor one. Even if the player knows they are struggling, which they might not admit even to themselves, they won't want to feel like they're letting the team down or appearing weak.

Some players might also be worried they'll lose their spot, though that's not the case with Grundy.
I think it’s a question of whether an extra week off will benefit him. I think he looks exhausted and sore, but if he’s not and wants to play then I’m fine with him making that call. And yes of course it would be different if his spot wasn’t guaranteed.

Not proven to be a level above anyone else yet, may well happen, but people put a lot of pressure on what is still an unproven player. That's the part I don't get, the idea he is a dead cert. He was outplayed in the VFL by the guys picked ahead of him.

Now he has looked good as he got more game time and if it's to rest guys this week I get it.

But he's been the "in" suggestion for months , just odd to me, not bagging the kid, I agree he looks ok.

If he is exhausted and sore, what is to stop him still putting his hand up for selection?

Players should be trusted to some degree, but it's fairly obvious in this case, and the coaches have already been thinking about it, so why should the coaches listen to him.

I'd rather play Grundy and share ruck duties with Dos and Joel.

Ladhams . Man he's infuriating to me.

Just offers nothing.

This is really all I'm saying. If we're managing guys this week, and I'd omit Adams (he has had intermittent good games, not just only 2 off games), then I think we should have him as the sub.

He's been in the "in" suggestion for a few weeks, outside maybe 1 or 2 of his most loyal devotees. Before that he was injured, or coming back into fitness. At times we've looked horrible in clearances, midfield effort, and he's someone who is arguably the best option for those outside our regular midfield rotations.

The only way Adams is coming out of the team is if he’s injured. Worst case is he’ll be sub
Yeah probably. If Chad is back, I reckon Horse will actually put him as sub. I have enough faith in Horse at the selection table to believe he won't contemplate relegating Cleary or Campbell to sub. Maybe.

The discussion is fair enough, given Adams form of recent weeks has been really down.

And he was subbed out at the weekend.

Gus is the nearest we have to a “like-for-like” swap.

But as I’ve said multiple times, Horse won’t make the change at this point in the season unless his hand is forced by injury.

After what happened to Adams last year, I do hope he comes good (despite my desire to see Gus get a go).

I'd actually be stunned if Horse picked Adams over Cleary and Campbell. Performance has to mean something, even this close to September.

And it's not like Adams had been setting the world on fire in the weeks before, either...

Re resting players, I wouldn't be surprised if we see Grundy rested this week. He's rested players before. Do we think Warner came to Horse and asked if he could sit out last week cause of his calf, or that Rowbottom said ouchies my cheek hurts too much for this week? Of course not.

I think Grundy would've been rested already if we had top two sewn up. But we didn't, and I think Horse thinks we are ****ed without Grundy so couldn't risk being without him for a week.

Horse will back his players until it gets embarrassing - in that regard I respect him.

It will take another single possession game from Adams for Horse to say ‘enough is too much’.

Clark was a good example of that, as was Ladhams.

If we do go on and win it, I would like Adams to be in the team too.

But just because we recruited him to win a flag (I thought that would be behind every recruitment or drafting tbh), doesn't necessarily equate to us being a better chance with him in the team. Though I'm not even suggesting we omit him for more than 1 week.
