Am I missing something here? They literally invaded that independent sovereign country years ago.

There has to be something I’m misunderstanding.

And annexed Crimea in 2014.

And tried reaaaal hard to take South Ossetia in 2008.

Yes I have discussed the Russian paranoia over their national security. Allowing the US to take Sevastopol would be catastrophic for Russian security.

This is agreed by Burns, Kagan and Brzezinski.

In what type of fever dream has US foreign policy ever proposed taking Sevastopol?

Am I going insane? I thought I was moderately informed.

Well there is only the 2 off us, and I would like to know when he gets home. It's not about him getting a lift.

Have a look at a smart watch. You can lock it down to only call, be called and message approved contacts. They have gps tracking, you can set it up to alert you when they arrive at or leave a certain area. They have a class/school mode to disable all functions other than being able to locate them. Noting some (most) can't send written messages, only voice message via the device app.

Some have a subscription service, others not.

You can get a pay as you go sim as it barely uses any data and only calls when needed. Just check the compatibility as some telco providers are not supported with some devices. $25 covered 10 months for me. Device itself was around $200.

Heaps of options available at a range of price points. Plus plenty of product reviews by both media and users. The user reviews are good.

We've found it a good interim step. Has come in handy a few times. Better than a phone they have to carry. Less chance of losing it.

In theory I'm totally for it. Kinda wish I stayed off the internet until my frontal lobe fully developed to be quite honest. Although there are a lot of kids in horrible situations or with marginalised attributes who find community and sanctum online. So I'm not sure where I fully sit on it.

How they go about enforcing it bewilders me, though, and leaves a lot of room for error and overreach.
Yeah pretty much same here on that. Altho being old I didn't really go online till my mid/late 20s.

My kids don't use social media. The use messenger apps and play online games, mostly roblox games that are social, usually sitting around with their mates playing them.

I don't want that to stop but I'm glad they won't be going onto any of that other mind breaking stuff.

Yeah there's some fkd shit out there. It's not just the shock videos or the bullying, kids are falling into radicalisation pipelines, and exposed to a general misguided sense of what's appropriate to say or do in public and what will hurt another person.

When I hopefully eventually have kids it's something I don't really know how to tackle.
This is the only social media I do. My missus does sfa as well.

That helps.

100%!

Whenever I try to get someone out of a bad internet pipeline (spiral?) my first step is to get them to literally touch grass and have real interactions with real people. Join clubs. Pick up a hobby, etc.

Makes sense that it's hella important for kids, too.
Helps that my youngest two kids best mate lives next door. And we have bush out the back.

It's a complex issue, but to over-simplify it for the purposes of answering your question;

1) Israel didn't ally with/support/arm ISIS
2) Israel did provide some small arms to Syrian Rebels near the Golan Heights who were not HTS, ISIS, Al-Qaeda or Al-Nusra, and were in fact the groups literally opposed to those Sunni Extremists.
3) Israel did treat wounded Al-Nusra fighters near the Golan Heights border - there's nothing wrong with this, and it does not count as any sort of evidence of Israel "supporting ISIS".
Israel's enemies - Iran and Syria - claimed they found Israeli equipment and munitions in ISIS strongholds.

Israel claim they didn't.

Unfortunately for them, Israel have a greater history of lying about stuff than Syria and Iran so their claims are less credible.

Particularly when the split with all these Islamist groups was based on ISIS' devotion to the most ****ed up parts of that religion.
Because if your enemy is willing to give you resources then you take them.

Obviously.

"Thanks for the bombs, we'll give them back soon."

I'll tell that to Japan.

I think they had a LOT of fights with the French, hey?

Since we are apparently taking everything literally.
The French ran away, as they do, and then Ho Chi Mihn led the Vietnamese resistence.

Then when he asked for US support in setting up Vietnam as a market democracy the US said "Nah, the French can have it back."

On the topic of internet security, I’d never post my kid online.

I don’t want strangers to have access to photos and videos of my future child. You don’t know who’s watching/looking/following, I just could never.
When my little brother was that age people were targeting him (and me) to manipulate our parents. Honestly of all the stupid things he does that is probably the worst.

Hey cool, unsolicited parenting advice from a retail employee teenager. How useful!

El oh El.
I'm not going into details but Ligs has more of a clue about this shit than you do.

Captain upyourself.

I think Israel is committing genocide.

I believe a state that guarantees the civil protections of Jews, Muslims, Christians should be created and administered by the UN should be on that land.

I believe the US and Russia are expansionist powers who need to be curtailed.

I believe that the US and EU supporting Ukraine with money and arms is a good thing.

Am I a neocon?

Be careful man. You'll be called an antisemite for questioning Israel's right to exist.

Personally I don't want Ukraine getting my tax dollars when they treat Roma people the way they do. That city mentioned above - Lviv - was a place where anti Roma pogroms with support from state apparatus, ie the cops were happening well after Maidan and less than five years before Putin invaded.

There's 100,000s of people whose families have lived in Ukraine for generations who are denied citizenship, the associated medical and educational benefits and even the right of return now if they left the country as refugees.

Amazing that nowhere do you mention the openly expansionist desires of Putin and the Russian state, and the Ukrainian desire to be their own independent country.

You’re so attuned to stereotypes about Russians; maybe turn that fierce antennae you have towards some of the Twitter accounts you follow.

Putin's been in power for a quarter of a century. His expansionism is trivial compared to say ... Israel for example.

Or ISIS ... for a little while (and I'm not saying that to link the two.)

The US started out as 13 states on the East Coast of a continent, now it even reckons it owns Hawaii.

And I'm not saying this to defend Putin, just to provide perspective. Compare how far Russia has expanded under Putin to some other states and try hard/wannabe states during the time he's been in power.

You say that as if it's a bad thing... why would you fight yourself? You might get hurt, that's ludicrous. Just let the plebs do it, they've got nothing better to do anyway.

Chad, you're a nice guy from what I read; minus your work with Ferbs. I don't understand why you're so willing to cut him down, he's equally left and a good bloke as you seem to be, you should really be mates.

Anyway, back to my thoughts about you, as why not...You're Annoying, sure. Lefty dreamer, of course. And if there were more people like you the world would be more dangerous certainly, but probably a better place.

Question. Why do people say you're Pro-Israel? I've never seen you utter anything Pro-Israel or US - compared to actual Pro-Israel people, you would be in the bottom 1%.

Given the amount of shit you cop, you should stop pretending the other side are worth your time, they really don't care about you. Enough of this bullshit, if you and your people are going to be labelled genocide-bringers, then it's only fair that a form of genocide is actually brought.

I think it's ultimately fair to both sides... the antisemites can finally be right about genocide (I have to read it enough, and it's blatantly false) and the Yid (army) can finally have their land back and much needed 4 Points. The remaining Muslims can go live with their Arab Brothers in other Muslim Countries, Judea will be returned to absolutely bum Jews in 50odd years, once the soil recovers.

Just makes sense. Losers all round which to be honest, they have been since day dot. Or Day +600 for those on the really shit side of the wall.

My Papa was actually born in Palestine, am I allowed to say what I want about that shithole? We'll soon find out.

I hope for your sake this is not how you actually feel. The fact that you did "battles" over crap music is enough for me to bag the living crap out of you. That and you attend dress up rallies in full regalia should mean the gloves come completely off. I do have a soft spot for you, stupidly, so I can't go full degen. I want to though.

Just for you.... so you know how we think...The first 13 minutes are so good! The rest is great commentary, but he loses points IMO as he's wearing a gzod USB.

That clip was very interesting, thanks for sharing.

The belittling and inhumanisation is extremely concerning though. Go a bit further. Why are Hamas so brutal? What has pushed them to this point? Is there a better way that the land can be shared and co-inhabited?

The pressure is on Israel because they have the power to make the change towards inclusivity. But they just don't want to.

Congratulations Liggy on your pregnancy and birth of your children!

Is it about tracking your kids now? Do you think you would have liked that?

Putin's been in power for a quarter of a century. His expansionism is trivial compared to say ... Israel for example.

Well... Crimea alone is larger than all of Israel, Palestine, AND Lebanon combined, and Russia annexed that territory in 2014...

Donetsk, Kherson, Luhansk and Zaporizhizhia are all significantly larger than the entirety of Israel, and that includes the territory in the Sinai that Israel briefly held before Egypt took it back...

So help me understand how your statement should be seen as anything other than Russian apologist propaganda?

And I'm not saying this to defend Putin, just to provide perspective. Compare how far Russia has expanded under Putin to some other states and try hard/wannabe states during the time he's been in power.

Yes, we are "comparing" Russia to other states. And guess what? Russia is so indisputably the worst offender in expansionism and geo-political violence in the last 20 years, and it's not particularly close.

When you add in Crimea, Eastern Ukraine, the regions in Georgia that he literally fought a war over in 2008 trying to annex, his desires to incorporate Transnistria in Moldova into Russia, the re-annexing/restoring of control of Chechnya in the Second Chechen War of the early 2000s...

I fail to understand how and why tankies make up blatant lies about Russia. These are easily debunked claims you're making. Why would you make them? Help me understand what point you think you're making here, because if it's anything other than "Russia IS INDISPUTABLY the most expansionist power of the last two decades" then you're peddling lies.
