oh, really? how does that work?

They're a UK based company, and he was specifically referring to the UK workers.

He does business in the UK and owns companies registered in the UK and therefore would liable to be brought before defamation proceedings in the UK.

No, what i'm talking about happened specifically because of the pandemic.

Biden also directly rejecting hiding during the inauguration and made that public saying he needed to make a show of strength about the situation. They increased security throughout washington but didn't cancel events because of fear of Trumpo supporters. And neither should they have. That would have given Trump and his supporters an enormous boost.

They did replace a whole bunch of traditional inaugural events with virtual ones and changed the way the public events were carried out on the advice of health officials.

Im not following. What's your point?

So you don’t really know the reason why, hence why you won’t share what you think you know, even though you have been given the green light.

No, I won't share the reason because the poster you are referring to specifically asked the mods to ask me to not post about him anymore. And I'm trying to respect that.

To contradict him would be to post things about him he has explicitly stated he doesn't want discussed.

He's playing you and he's doing it knowing that if I take his bait, he will have grounds to complain.

Just... stop talking about him in these threads. He doesn't want to participate or be discussed. He's gone. That's a good thing.

I think ferball is trying to imply the only reason big tech donated to Trump's inauguration slush fund but not Biden's is because Biden didn't have a "traditional" inauguration due to COVID.

It's technically correct... but also significantly (and deliberately?) misses the point and implies that there isn't a very real and concerted "kiss the ring" movement sweeping through the uber rich in America.

Zuck, Bezos, Musk, Cook, Thiel, etc etc have all bent the knee to Trump because they seem to believe they're all about to get very rich.

BTW Donors to Biden's inauguration included Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Qualcomm, Verizon, Comcast, Boeing, pfizer and others.

Corporate Libertarians be all over this thread pretending its only ever been Trumps inauguration where the powerful gather to kiss the president's ring.

Nice
About a million years ago a mate of mine made Archie a three foot high bong. LOL. That was before he was famous.
Beautiful Humans. Fantastic musicians.

Amazon donated $260,000 to Biden's inauguration in 2021.
They're donating $1,000,000 to Trump in 2025.

Apple/Tim Cook donated $0 to Biden's inauguration in 2021.
They're donating $1,000,000 to Trump in 2025.

etc

The original point is valid.

The original point was misinformation.

FFS Meta didn't exist when Biden was inaugurated.

So? Facebook did. Mark Zuckerberg wasn't born in the last 4 years... this is not the 'fact check' you think it is.

From the BBC;

Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has donated $1m (£786,000) to an inauguration fund for President-elect Donald Trump.

The tech giant's boss, Mark Zuckerberg, dined with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in November, having sought to repair his and his firm's relationship with Trump following the election.

Trump previously was highly critical of Mr Zuckerberg and Facebook - calling the platform "anti-Trump" in 2017.

Meta is not believed to have made similar donations to President Joe Biden's inaugural fund in 2020 or to Trump's previous inaugural fund in 2016.

The company confirmed its million-dollar donation to the inaugural fund to several outlets on Wednesday.

You’re talking about an inauguration, how much was donated to attempt to get them elected during the election cycle?

All the big tech money in ‘16 and ‘20 went to the democrats, arguing anything else is disingenuous.

Inauguration donations are actually where the big bribes happen.

Campaign donations are heavily regulated and capped. (Sure there's ways around it via PACs and soft money but still).

Inauguration donations are not covered by campaign finance regulations AND they are tax-free for Trump, which is why they are considered defacto bribes and straight up cash-for-influence.

If you want to know more, this is a half-decent article about them;

Ah yes.

Another of the ‘they’re all the same. Both sides get it’ NPCs.

"not believed to have"

What's the difference between say amazons donations to the last president's inauguration and their donations to this one, not in terms of numbers tho?

Why is it somehow illegitimate that they donated stupid amounts of money to Trump but not illegitimate that they donated stupid amounts of Biden?

Oh my god dude... give it a ****ing rest.

You play fast and loose with the details when it suits you, then demand King's Counsel presenting to the High Court specificity from others when you're arguing against them.

"Meta didn't even exist back then" jfc... are you saying you're really that dumb that you can't distinguish between Facebook and Meta? REALLY?!
Meta isn't just Facebook is it. Its a group of social media companies.

"not believed to have"

Yes. The list of donors is public. You can check for yourself. I don't know why BBC phrased it like that, but Meta/Facebook/Zuckerberg did not donate to Biden's 2016 inauguration.

Well, other than the $750,000~ difference?

not in terms of numbers tho.

Why not in terms of numbers? Because it derails your argument?

The size difference IS the issue for some of these lol.

Why is it somehow illegitimate that they donated stupid amounts of money to Trump but not illegitimate that they donated stupid amounts of Biden?

What "stupid amounts" did Amazon or Bezos donate to Biden? You seem to think there's been some huge money from Bezos/Amazon to Biden but I can't find any from the list of donations...

So what?! It changes literally nothing about the topic of conversation.

It's being anal for absolute no gain other than an attempt to deflect.

For someone who claims they don't like Trump, my god you spend a lot of time defending him and attacking Democrats.

Quite the coincidence hmmmm.
