One of the comps elite midfielders. Very attacking midfielder, with brilliant delivery skills to leading forwards. Defensive skills are his weakness. Strength is his footskills, both sides, – probably the best in the comp at present. Excellent endurance. Will be a great leader for the Blues emerging talented young midfield group – Carrazzo, Simpson, Bentick, Walker, Russell, Murphy, Blackwell etc etc. :)

Not a bad player but a genuine receiver.

reflected by the fact he led our hard ball gets in his first year with us ... yea yea, that was 0 as Carlton don't get the hard ball etc etc

He's in the same category as

Andrew Thompson
Scott Camporeale
Heath Scotland
Travis Johnstone
Kane Johnson
Stephan Powell
Joel Smith

As good midfielders that never quite reach the elite level

I don't worry too much about Nick these days but this was pretty funny at the time. This was his first game for Carlton against us.

Check out Michael Wilson waiting to pounce....The commentators sum it up perfectly.

"He's not going to chip it to himself now is he?"

"If he does that now I'll tackle him myself!"

"Too much pride....Wilson won't let him do it though..."
"Do it Nick! Do it Nick!"
"He's thinking about, he's thinking about it!"

"A centring ball...into Pickett!"

"Well, what was Nick Stevens thinking then, honestly?"
"Haha he was a team man!"

"You've never seen, folks, Gerard Healey so excited in an 82 point game!"

You were saving those images for such a moment weren't you? :p

In the entire context of the game though, it didn't really matter. But I've seen far more embarrassing moments from better players.
Put them on the Port board a while ago for a bit of off season fun. :)

Bit harsh on those two, particuarly the latter - Campo was an All-Aus in 00. Others I agree with.

Nick Stevens is a very good footballer, who shines in better teams. Great skills and runs the lines.

Nick Stevens>>>>>>>>>>>>>any current Port midfielder! Seriously get over it! Losing Stevo, Carr, Pickett, James etc in the last three years must really be a kick in the nads! Can't wait to see Dad's army fall in a screaming heap next year and spiral down the ladder past the emerging Blue boys :)

Billy Morrison, I believe you mean.

Port could have picked up any of these with pick 17

David Mundy .
Sam Butler (Adelaide boy)
Cameron Thurley
Harry Miller (Port Adelaide boy)
Daniel McConnell
Jay Nash (Adelaide boy)
Jed Adcock
Eddie Sansbury
Ricky Dyson
Amon Buchanan
Tom Logan
Sam Fisher (Adelaide boy too)
Julian Rowe
Shane Tuck (recruited from West Adelaide)

Good player, but not great. Gets shut down in pressure games when forced to be a ball getter (see any Port finals 2001-2003).

Is one of the best receivers going around and if was in a side with a couple of genuine in and under players so he didn't have to play that role would cut a lot more sides to pieces. I don't like him for his attitude or the way he backstabbed Port, but a lot of the criticism comes from him being used in the wrong role. This happened both at Port and now at the Blues.

Unfortunately (for him) at the Blues he'll be stuck having to be a ball winner - or for that matter at Collingwood if he gets his wish and goes there.
