Thoughts guys?

Satan, be aware that Petrie is suspended for the first 2 or 3 games, he won't miss any of your league games but you will have to use your forward bench to cover a 0 early on so make sure all your cheap/rookie forwards are playing round 1.

hey guys for your info. - Suspensions are as follows:

Chris Judd (Carlton) rd 4
Mark McVeigh (Essendon) rd 2
Nathan Lovett-Murray (Essendon) rd 3
Lance Franklin (Hawthorn) rd 2
Chance Bateman (Hawthorn) rd 2
Drew Petrie (North Melb) rd 3
Troy Chaplin (Port Adel) rd 2

Can anyone help us with my team please. Trying to make use of the MPP a little. Not sure about Ball or Gram?? Is Ball good for Supercoach? Gram can be wasteful and inconsistent. ?? I am thinking Carazzo may be a good pick up. Harry O'brien is my bolter. Can improve and has reportedly done well in pre-season in the quarterback role. Had Malceski.Ladson but worried about injuries so chose Greenwood. (also helps with MPP). Pretty happy with forward line but not sure about Pav or Gray. Could swap Pav for either Harvey, Higgins, or even Franklin? Had Dangerfield but decided on Medhurst because of his experience. Gray?? Overpriced?? Maybe but could have a big year. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers

Backs: Goddard, Enright, Carazzo, Gram, O'Brien, Greenwood, Waters
Subs: Maguire, Webberley

Mids: Ablett, Goodes, Hodge, Ball, Martin, Barlow
Subs: Bastinac, Banner or maybe Shuey and/or Jetta

Subs: Gumbleton, Hitchcock

Excellent backs, mids and rucks. Forwards terrible. Maybe downgrade a few to boost your forwards. Petrie suspended, Not sold on Hall yet, kicked 7 goals on the weekend still only scored 100, he's not going to kick 7 every week. Dangerfield - Ziebell, i wouldn't take both into the same side. Gumbelton, although basically guaranteed games by Knights is still a time bomb with injury just around the corner. He's still a young key forward who could only get 4 kicks and a goal > 20/30 points. Watch team selections closely Swanny's have a full list to choose from and Rohan will be not be guaranteed a game in the first few rounds. Like them both but a huge risk to start with them on the ground. Going off PODS a little too. He hasn't set the world on fire in the preseason, and not sure he will make the grade come the real stuff.

Very risky with the 3 rookie midfield structure..
But in saying that, barring injury, you'd think Martin and Barlow would play all 22. So really if all goes well you will only ever have to replace Banner if he is not selected.

Strong Backline, I like the selection of Hooker as not many teams have had him. I've had him in and out. Can score 100's, but can score 50's..

Your first 3 mids are class.

Rucks is risky, but it could pay off.
If Tippet averages 90 this year, which he is capable of and it seems we aren't going to see much of Cox this year. Something isn't right there, Nic Nat could blossom as we saw against Essendon, alot of arguements saying that Nat was playing against 3rd and 4th string rucks, but it wasn't his tap work that scored him the 178. It was the contested possessions, tackles and goals that allowed him to produce a mammoth score.

Your first 3 forwards are class, Pavlich or Brown..? I'd go Brown purely on durability.

Hall is risky, but could be a $500K + forward this year based on pre season form.

Danger and Ziebell will improve and i'm sure you'll be looking to upgrade them early.

Don't like the Westhoff selection, i think there are much better options if your not keen on starting a rookie.

Personally i'd take Gary Rohan as a rookie, save $160K and rotate that position between your two bench players.

Or a less risky option and less costly for similar results, Chris Mayne or Ben Warren, even Staker seems as though he is impressing up there at the gabba.

Overall, i like your team.
Risky, But Very good :thumbsu:

Like your backline other then Kennelly, could be up & down, also Ladson & Hunt are unkown quantities coming off injury but I think most teams will have both of them.

Mids are solid but would consider someone like a McVeigh or Masten over Trengove who will score well in some games but might also struggle in others, Mc Veigh or Masten will be more consistent scorers..

Rucks are strong, both Clark & Tippet should have good years.

Forwards need some changes I think, Harvey is getting older, Gia is a 4th and not a 3rd string forwards and Mehurst is a risk.

Not bad for a first up effort though..

My team:

Backs: Goddard, Enright, Hodge, Harbrow, Malceski, Ladson, Hunt (A. Smith, Goose)

no bad, similar to mine.

backs: I think Goddard is a little over priced (as are most of the St Kilda players at the moment).
mids: its been said before, and i'll say it again.. 3 rookies on the field does have risks associated - too many IMO
rucks: any combo with that spend is about the same
fwds: dunno about medhurst and Ballantyne.....

so.. here is mine :>
please provide your comments
(a lottle top heavy i know.. but i think taking the gamble in the defense is the way to go)..

Very strong backs. Maybe too strong?

Excellent mids. I'm not a fan of starting two Rookies but if you're that confident.

Rucks are good. leaning toward Clark Over Sndi myself. No idea how NicNat will shake down this year.

Fwds are good but I think Gray is injured?? Ballantyne is a bit up and down for mine.

Too much money on teh bench in that back line. Need to drop at least one of those $300k + players so you can bolster your midfield.

Mids are weak. Lots of upside (Maybe) but weak at this point.

I like the ruck combination. Could be dangerous but then again, they could both fall over injured.

Fwds are good barring Stevi J and Gray who's injured. Again, a downgrade do you can bolster your mids.

Backs look OK. Pretty well balanced IMO.

1st class midfield. Not keen on two rookies but your call.

Rucks are good. Change Lobbe though.

Fwds seem a little meh.... Maybe downgrade Kennedy or Hall to get another keeper???

apprantly he may of hurt his hammy on the w/e but theres been no offical word

heres my team

DEF: Goddard, Bock, Enright, Hodge, Hunt, Ladson, Waters (Maguire, Webberley)
MID: Ablett, Pendlebury, Bartel, Martin, Barlow, Banner (Bastiniac, Howlett)
RUCK: Clark, Tippet (Skipper, Grimely)
FWD: Riewoldt, O'Keefe, Pavlich, Brown, Harvey, Hall, Rockliff (Gumby, Roberts)

Thoughts?

Any reason?

I'd look at getting Waters in there and getting rid of Kennedy for Mayne/Wright/Ballantyne/Warren. Will improve but not enough to be worth it.

Apparently he's not coming on and probably won't get a run. Westhoff is going to Ruck and Cloke is a chance of getting elevated as a result. Just what I heard from PA supporters.

Not much to say. Very strong team across the board. Maybe Bock for someone else??? Not a fan of 3 rookies starting in the mids either but I can see what you're doing. Looks good.

No way will we play Westhoff as a ruck ahead of Lobbe.

He will get a run, we just don't know if it will be in round 1 or halfway through the year.

I think hes a very good chance for round 1 seeing as we dropped Cloke and brang Lobbe in last week v Collingwood. Rodan is expected back in 3-4 weeks so I'm not sure about Clokes chances.

Either way the perfect 4th ruck with the MPP and a chance for a few games.

very different to what has been spruiked here. Hope he does get a run.

Thanks for comments, petrie was chosen as a MPP(he also did ave 90 last yr) just to be different to tippett, looks cats are fwds short with, stokes, rooke, hogan and now varcoe unavailable, so Pods is likely to get a run

will look at fwd line when rookies and teams more concrete

Rate My SuperCoach team IV

Starting a new thread the old 1 is getting packed. Please Give every 1 a go and Rate a couple of teams befor dropping in your own. Makes it fair for everyone.

I obviously cant rate anybodys team because i am the 1st post so ill get the ball rolling with my team.

Team Name: IBLEEDYELLOW&BLACK
Backs
Goddard(VC), Newman, Enright, Hodge, Malceski, Ladson, Waters.
Maguire(EMERG), Davies.

Mids
Ablett (C), Dal Santo, Cooney, Ball, Trengove, Martin.
Barlow(EMRG), Shuey.

Rucks
Jolly, Hille.
Warnock, Skipper.

Fwds
Riewoldt, O'Keefe, Franklin, Tippett, Hall, Medhurst, Rockliff.
Gumbleton(EMRG), Podsiadly.

What i think about my team (IMO):
- Malceski, Ladson and Waters will start round 1 so im not to worried bout them.
- Pretty Good mid, might trade of Cooney for a better player because I have 33k left over.
- Some of my rookie picks might change before round 1 pending elevations and round 1 selections.
- Ruck look strong, Hille is in great form dispite a few doubters, Jolly as good as ever.

Please Rate guys and I will do the same for you.

Re: Rate My SuperCoach team IV

Looks good except for Ablett. I hate his attitude and cockyness tends to go for the miracle goal instea of passong to the open man, although he might pull it off alot but its not the correct thing to do. He and chappy ar the reasons your foward line dont score goals because they kick it from outside 5o, over their heads, through the goals.

Not saying he isnt exiting to watch I just dont like the bloke, dont like how he carries himself, doesnt talk to media or fans and I have seen him so no 2 a little girl for an autograph haha. He and Ricky Ponting are the only 2 guys i have ever seen do that
