Re: Rate my SuperCoach team

I take it you consider only Roo and Buddy to be premiums? What's your opinion on Higgins and LeCras? Obviously you rate Tippett, as you have him also.

I like Higgins & LeCras... had LeCras earlier but changed him out in order to accommodate other selections. Higgins is good but I wonder if he'll do everything he did last year?? I personally think he's plateaued but that's just my opinion.

Tippett, like LeCras & Franklin are, IMO cheaply priced keepers that you get on at the start of the season and stick with. Barring a season ending injury, you keep them no matter what.

The only premium you have though is Roo. Buddy is not a premium but only because he's so cheap this year. Mind you, I think he is very under priced. As do most people I think. Especially after destroying Richmond like he did... :)

Re: Rate my SuperCoach team

def: goddard, fisher, hodge, waite, kennelly, suban, ladson
mid:ablett, selwood, cross, burgoyne, trengrove, martin
rck: sandilands, tippett
fwd: riewoldt, brown, franklin, murphy, burton warren rockliff

bench: maguire, trengrove(port)
morabito, cunnington
warnock, roughead
posiadley, denis-lane

not too sure on this team. advice?

Start a rookie in the backline and upgrade either Cross or Burgoyne with the cash. Maybe downgrade Tippett if you need extra cash to get the right player.

Hi All,

Really new to this caper, can I have some general thoughts on how I need to improve my team or which line is my weakness:

Defenders:
Goddard - Enright - McMahon - Lake - Hodge - Nash - Moore
(Emg: Maguire, Davies)

Midfielders:
Selwood - Gibbs - Boyd - Ball - Trengrove - Martin
(Emg: Jetta, Banner)

Rucks:
Jolly - Seaby (EMg: ROughhead, Bass)

Forwards:
Riewoldt - DIdak - J.Brown - Franklin - Hurley - Polkinghorne - Davis
(Emg: Rockcliff, Astbury)

It's a good team, My issue is not enough midfielder types in the forward line. There are lots of key forwards in there who don't get a heap of the ball, and whilst they can score 150, they can also score 50.

Anyway, I have two teams. Here are mine:

TEAM 1

Defenders
1. Goddard, BPts: 0 Avg: N/A

30. Podsiadly, JPts: 0 Avg: N/A

I've loaded up on a massive starting midfield and gone with a lot of point scoring "midfield" forwards.

Fair call.... :thumbsu:

Backs... i think Goddard is a lot of coin. But like the B.jones selection. Had a god awful year last year but he is a proven point scorer and a bargain at $236k. Like Hayden too..

interesting mids. I think Cotchin could go large. I also think $600k for Murphy is too much. maybe a rookie starting to free up cash?

Seaby in the ruck might not be that great. Seems a bit underwhelming across the entire rucks TBH.

Chapman and Harvey in the fwds just screams injury.

I'm only new to this so I was wondering if an experienced SC'er could please rate my team and let me know what they think might need changing? :)

McMahon??? unless you know something I don't, drop him now. Other than that, some very good, and expensive backs.

Mids are OK but missing a bit of firepower. try NDS, Ablett or Swan/pendles in there.

Rucks are OK but Seaby may not play every game.

Star studded fwd line. Maybe a trade down and a starting Rookie to free up some cash and get some growth in a player. Polkinghorne may go large this year.

That, my friend, is a very handy team!!! :thumbsu:

Your emergency rucks are horrible (the fwds and mids too) but apart from that, it's a very nice looking team indeed.

Oh thanks mate :)

Yeah a couple of my emergencies were $83,400 rookies used for some extra cash. I think Maguire, Jetta and Rockliff will all get games but if Ottens or Naitanui get injured I'm screwed lol

I might play around with my team and try to get Warnock or Charman

One thing I would mention is that your team looks sensational.

BUT.

How your team looks in round 1 is not the point. It's how it will look at round 22 and during the season.

There are a few players in there (the 83K rookies) who are obviosuly fillers who probably won't get game time. Hence their price won't rise.

Instead, you could have a slightly worse team on paper that consists of expensive rookies (the 150K plus ones) who WILL get game time, and some of whom will increase to $300,000 or $400,000 or more. Then you can upgrade those players.

How much upgrade is there in your team? Not as much as some other teams I'd suggest because of the likelihood of some players not getting game time.

I think you've got nearly the best round 1 team you can possibly have (apart from Buddy who won't play in round one) but I don't think it's the type of team that would win the whole thing because the upgrade factor is not as high.

Just an observation and it might work out sensationally for you, but just an observation.

Hmm.. thanks a lot. Like I said I'm fairly new to this so that's something I had not really considered. I mostly focused on getting 1 good emergency that will get game time and the 2nd emergency as just a filler. But you make a very good point.

Thanks for the advice :) *makes some adjustments*

Of course this team will probably change before round 1, but I'd like to see peoples opinions of my team at the moment.

I finished in the top 50 last year, mostly because my gambles came off.

Defenders-

Goddard
Hurn
Hodge
Kennelly
Ladson
Waters
Maguire
(J. Trengove, J. Webberly)

Midfield-

Ablett (C)
Pendlebury
Sewell (VC)
Cooney
Masten
Martin
(J.Trengove, R.Bastinac)

Rucks-

Sandilands
Kreuzer
(Warnock, Lobbe)

Forwards-

Riewoldt
O'Keefe
Didak
Franklin
Medhurst/Ziebell (thoughts?)
Gumbleton (unsure...)
Dennis Lane
(Tapscott, Podsiadly)

Cash Reserves- $91,800

Unless a rookie pops up, Maguire will stay as I can see an easy 100-200k coming, my forward line is a little weak, but there just isn't the rookies here as there were last year...

I though of maybe downgrading Masten into a Morabito, then using that to upgrading Gumbleton into someone...

Thoughts?

Hey Bic

Backs - Waters worries me had surg in Dec - upgrade to Hunt
Upgrade Webberly to Moore

Mids - Maybe downgrade Cooney to Morabito (strong line)

Rucks - Very strong

Forwards- No to Medders apart from '08 only aves mid 60s,with Cooney's cash could afford Tapscott/Dennis-Lane to Burton/Danger
Gumbleton to Rockliff (nice game in Nab cup)
Cheers

A few changes to my last, but pretty happy thus far:

Backs
Drummond/Enright/Hargrave/Hodge/Kennelly/Ladson/Maguire
(Sheppard/Lisle)
Mids
Ablett/Cooney/K Cornes/Mclean/Trengove/Martin
(Shuey/Bastinac)
Rucks
Sandilands/Kreuzer (Warnock/Lobbe)
Forwards
Riewoldt/O'keefe/Franklin/Porplyzia/J Kennedy/Buchanan/Watts
(TDL/Tapscott)

You can tell me it's crap, but hey, it's different.
Have focused on the position swapping tactic and some different mid priced players. I realise it will be a slow start but should be firing on all cylinders come the end. I've always played 1 dimensional and finished around 2000 last 3 years, might stick with it and try a new tact.

D- Goddard, Enright, Fisher, Hodge, Hunt, Ladson, Waters (Moore, Maguire)
M- Gaz, Selwood, Ziebell, Shiels, Buckley, Trengove (Martin, Morabito)
R- Sandilands, Charman (Warnock, Lobbe)
F- Roo, Boomer, Stevie J, Buddy, Tippett, Dangerfield, Dennis-Lane (Tapscott, Podsiadly)

Have 278K leftover and obviously the mids need work, but this topic seems to be a cut and paste job 1 after the other. I'm looking to be unique and am prepared to see what happens. Worst thing that can happen, bring on SC 2011 and try again!!!

Experienced SC'er thoughts would be appreciated

Pretty good team.

I like K.Cornes. Always gave me a good 90+ score last year. Very reliable. Mclean will be interesting this year.

No starting rookie in the fwd line??

Yeah. Need to upgrade at least one of the mids. I'd also start a rookie in the back line. Boomer & Stevie J will either make you look a genius or a fool. The chanmces of them both making you look a genius is remote. I'd gamble with only one of these guys but that's just me.

Not a bad looking team. :thumbsu:

My only concern is your fwd line. Harvey is to old and I think Pav is on the slide this year. Rockliff is a poor choice for the starting rookie but you may know more about him than me. Really just personal preferences at this point.

Who would u go for instead of Pavlich, Harvey and Rockliff? Thanks for the advise.

Thoughts?

I have a few issues with this side that are highlighted.

Defence:

I'd look at downgrading Goddard to free up some cash as he has had an interupted preseason and is fairly expensive (think Hodge last year). Having both Waters and Macguire starting is a massive no-no for mine, both injury prone and will struggle to play more than 10 games IMO. Waters is in the Eagles best 22 when at his best but he hasnt been there for a while. We all know about Macguire - good emergency option.

Mids:

Good but perhaps too good considering the holes in your team. Like you said you should look at downgrading Masten to Scully (looked good in the intraclub) or Morabito to free up cash.

Rucks:

Good, no issue. I like having a solid premium ruck option and you have fulfilled that.

Forwards:

Riewoldt starts off slow and his price inevitably slides to 500-550k and is easy to fit in. Save the cash to upgrade. Starting two rookies like this is a massive risk similar to your defence. Gumbleton is way too injury prone to start as evident by his recent 'back spasm'. TDL is a good option if you still want to start one rookie (which is what I have done at this stage).

Hope this helps, but it is only my opinion and you can do with it what you wish :):thumbsu:

Thanks for the feedback... will definately consider your comments.

By the way that selection is Scott Mcmahon from the Kangaroos who is one of the better ball users in the competition not that Columbian drug dealer look a like who plays for the tigers Jordan.
